E. Meetings Methodists of Olinda will open revival meetings next Sunday, Jan. 13. The meetings will be held in the interest of the entire community and it is believed a general interest in religious life will be awakened. These are the times when the drift is away from the great fundamentals of solid character and high citizenship. People need to esteem the church as never before, and devote themselves wholeheartedly to religion. The meetings will call attention to soul life, which, after all, is the great life and the all important one. People of the neighboring towns will be heartily welcomed at the special services. J. B. Woodward, D. D., is pastor of the church. Officials were notified at once and told Mr.Cannon to leave articles so they could take finger prints, and then did not show up at all. It was discovered later that telephone wires from the Mercantile Co. had been cut the same morning, and it is that that the robbers planned to rob that store too, but were frightened away by Mr.Cannon. Mrs.Emma Sweany entertained her boy class of the Baptist church with a turkey dinner on Thursday. This was the promise she made the boys when the turkey was small. Ferns, begonias, and yellow roses were the decorations Mrs.Sweany used in a very effective manner. MEETING The monthly Parent-Teacher association meeting developed into a round table yesterday afternoon in which the mothers and teachers freely participated. A series of questions were submitted among them being how often the child may attend a moving picture show. Opinions brought several solutions of the weeknight show problem. One father desiring to teach thrift, told his child that for every cent he saved rather than spending it on pictures, between a stipulated day and his birthday, he would contribute a cent and with the amount they would buy a game or desired toy. Another suggested parental censorship of every picture before the child might attend. Another problem is that of home study, which was talked over both from the point of too many hours and too few. How the parent may keep the confidence of the child interested the teachers quite as much and all entered in to this vital question. The matter of spending money for candy received much consideration. The association had hoped to hear from Miss Dry, Anaheim school nurse, a report on the success of serving milk at school in the mid morning, but she was unavailably absent from the meeting. Delegates to attend the fourth district Parent-Teacher association meeting in Huntington Beach Saturday, to represent the local order are the Messdames Ida Hughes, Carrie Mawe, David Beat, Robert Beat, C. J. Danham, D. H. Van Meter, Ruby Irwin, C. S. Smith, A. C. H. Bode, G. H. Goodale, and Miss Vesta Wawe and Miss Carney. The reward offered the room with the largest representation of parents went to the second grade Successful Meeting With several "new" mothers out at the Kateella Parent-Teacher association yesterday, the attendance was most gratifying and the baby clinic for an hour preceding the meeting was well patronized. The picture of the late president Harding, which goes about from room to room, according to the representation of parents, will adorn the walls of Mrs. Perozzi's room during January, and until the next meeting, Feb. 5. This meeting, by the way, will be held in the evening, that the fathers may also attend. A New Year's greeting was presented by the president, Mrs. J. Roy Williams and interesting reports included in the invitation to Huntington Beach for the fourth district meeting next Saturday. Katella association will be represented by Mrs. Ida J. Hughes, Mrs. J. E. Wilburn, Mrs. L. E. Reacon, Mrs. John Bairn, Mrs. Rey J.Williams, Mrs. J.B.Eaton and Mrs.Swindler. Evereybody is welcome, however, and it is likely many others will be there. The program was followed by a general discussion of school topics. Resolutions of sympathy were extended to the Class family, in their recent bereavement.
