Staff Correspondent) PARIS, Jan. 3—With railway stations closed, public buildings isolated and suburbsooded, the river Seine continued to rise today, threatening Paris with the worst flood in history. The river at noon had reached 21 feet and 10 inches, the highest in history, except during the disastrous flood in 1910. The water has cut off electricity in the lavender district. Clerks in the ministry of finance worked everishly transferring documents and files from the basement to the second floor. The great foreign office building is surrounded by water. Official flood stage readings and weather forecasts are being broadcasted by the Eiffel tower. Many people are homeless in the suburbs and tremendous property damage has been done. There has been no casualties. Suburbs bordering on the Seine resemble a scene from Venice. Many families that refused to abandon their homes, moved to second floors. Mait and roodstuffs were delivered from boats. Haines along the upper Seine continue, making it impossible to say when the crest of the flood will be reached. Nothing is gained by shouting into the phone, whether the party whose attention is desired be in the next block, or in Siekyou or San Diego.—Sacramento Bee.
