Some ten wells were completed, the smallest being betr than 750 barrels and the larger one running up to 1800. The daily output of this field has grown by leaps and bounds during December and the field will start the New Year with an output of 45,000 barrels. Wells in the central west section of the field are suffering considerable decline while those in the less closely drilled east district are holding up strong, and it is the new wells in the east division of the Lomita field that are contributing to the big and steady increases. The U. S. Royalties Co. and the Universal Consolidated Oil Co. led the Torrance producers by putting on three wells each. The trio put on production by the Consolidated were Nos. 2, 3 and 5, and their production ran from a 1000 to 1500 barrels. The Consolidate wells ranged in depth from 2750 to 3780. The United States Royalties' three wells were Nov. 11, 15 and 18. Drilled to 3640, 3737 and 2782 Nos. 11, 15 and 18 are making 500, 450 and 1200 barrels respectively. W P. OHIO LIBRARIAN HITS LATE WRITERS COLUMBUS, Dec. 27 — That the literary market today is characterized by predominance of immoral, unmoral and useless fiction is the claim made by Miss Blanche C. Roberts, vice-librarian of the Carnegie public library here, in an address on "Who Reads What?" "Where can we lay the blame and what shall we do about it?" inquired Miss Roberts. "The day may come when it will be necessary to have a board of censors for all publications, I hope not, but there is danger." When we pick up a catalog announcing 2500 new books for a season, we feel the American people are readers. Twenty years ago 75 per cent of the reading public consisted of fiction readers, but today statistics show approximately 70 per cent are non-fiction readers." declared Miss Roberts.
