A.U.H.S.SHOW PLEASES GREAT LOCAL AUDIENCE
The vaudeville show presented at Anaheim high school last evening by the dramatics class, was a marked success and every act was cleverly portrayed. Not a dull moment occurred in the entire show. Buffton Howell as the "mysterious magician" entertained the audience between acts with bits of readings. The dialogue, "Just Foolishness," with Delma Patton and Stuart Jane contained some clever "patty." "Neath the Italian Moon" was every pretty act, an attractive feature, being the appearance of a real gondola. Seated was Elvin Oguer, the lover, who sang pretty love lyrics to the girl, Constance Williams. A mile quartet gave several numbers, which added to the act.
"The Comics" proved to be a scream, especially Barney Google and his pal, "Spark Plug." The house reared with laughter. "The Gumps" were good, as well as "Tillie the Teller," and "Folix the Cat."
"The Tango Two," was a novelty act. A Spanish cavalier, Everett Wells looked the part and did justice to the songs he sang. Miss Gretchen Holland his partner, was at her best and her solo dancing was splendid. The tango steps with Mr. Wells was also excellent. A brilliant checkered drop curtain with brilliant lighting effects added to this presentation.
"The Order of a Rose" was a funny skit and each performer took his part to perfection. The whole skit trouble arose over a note proposing an elopement, written by the butler to the maid. The members of the household and the Xmas at Palm School
Palm Street school was the scene of a jolly celebration this afternoon, when the pupils enjoyed their annual Christmas tree and party.
Different games and features preceded the tree which was boxes containing candy, animal cookies, popcorn and raisins. A quantity of clothing was also given out.
The faculty members of the school wish to thank the various organizations for their kind donations, and also the individuals who helped make the affair a success. There are about 200 pupils of the school who enjoyed the affair. The teachers Mrs. V. D. Carleton, principal, Miss Adele Howard, Gertrude Tracy, Lenora Clark and Mrs. J. W. Wallop.
Pythians Spread Cheer
Several needy families will be hankered this year through the thoughtfulness of the Pythian Sisters who are busy filling boxes and baskets with clothing and good things. A visit of the kind was made yesterday and tomorrow will see more of them.
At the Silver Tea yesterday held at the home of Mrs. Maude Sanger, plans for an extended line of ultrasonic work was outlined and will be started early in the year. Eighteen ladies chatted together for a time, working on Christmas needlework, then were served with daltry refreshment.
the home fires burning while the wife was the meal ticket during the day and a club woman by night. The poor husband was terribly abused and when his old girl, Gretchen Holland came and Local Union Sends Gift
Twenty-five quarts of canned fruit and a cash gift were taken yesterday to the home for old ladies in Highland Park. The contribution was from Anaheim W. C. T. U., and was delivered by Rev. and Mrs. T. H. Walker.
The home, which is supported by the state W. C. T. U., now has forty in the family, a few of whom are life members. Many of them are privileged to pay a very moderate board, and all who wish may assist in the daily duties about the comfy place.
All members of the big "family" were much interested in Christmas and were heartily appreciative of the gifts.
Efficiency Club Elects
With S.W.Todd, of Anaheim, president of the Industrial Fuel Supply company an install officer, the rites will be conducted at the January meeting of the Southern Counties Gas Company's Efficiency club. Election of new leaders was the feature of a meeting this week when J.C. Hayden was chosen for presiding officer with Joseph Wagner, vice president; Miss Ruth Walker, recording secretary; A.L.Tucker, corresponding secretary; and Tom Allender, treasurer. Mr.Todd was organizer and first president of the club.
A chicken dinner and Christmas party appropriate to the good season was held in a setting of gay trimmings and a Christmas tree. Each young lady member received a box of chocolates and Santa, in his winter garb, passed out gifts for all. A program of music preceded St.Nick's visit.
The company's office force in Anaheim is a portion of the big club and was well represented at
Justice to the songs he sang. Miss Gretchen Holland his partner, was at her beat and her solo dancing was splendid. The tango steps with Mr. Welis was also excellent. A brilliant checkered drop curtain with brilliant lighting effects added to this presentation.
"The Order of a Rose" was a funny skirt and each performer took his part to perfection. The whole skirt trouble arose over a note proposing an elopement, written by the butler to the maid. The members of the household and the guests also found the note and each thought it was written by his or her particular loved one. The mix-up is straightened out when Hopson confesses he wrote the note.
"I Can't do that Sum" was a delightful feature given by six of the "youngsters" around school. They had "take-offs" on the different students on the campus who had "cases" on each other.
"Balloon Chorus Girls Revue" featured eleven pretty dancing girls in clever costumes with varicolored balloons attached. They had some pretty steps making the act very taking one. Miss Lovenia O'Toole gave a pretty dance. Miss Gladys Dickerson was the solosist.
Peals of laughter were certainly brought out by William Betz when the curtain arose upon "Bill" as he was sitting in the parlor knitting a blanket. In 1959 depicted the story of the husband having to stay in to keep at the home fires burning while the wife was the meal ticket during the day and a club woman by night. The poor husband was terribly abused and when his old girl, Gretchen Holland came and pleaded with him so go away, he burst into tears. When he realized he had to leave poor Rex, the family dog, he decided to stay with his family and not run away with Florence. (Miss Holland). Miss Catherine Crabath was excellent in her role as the wife who had no time to bother with home affairs.
The negro minstrels staged a good performance. A log cabin was in plain view and a chorus of the colored folk picked cotton at the rear of the cabin. The black faced folk "pulled off" some clever jokes and sang some of the popular airs. Action centered around the newly weds who had just come from a honeymoon trip to California. They were Helen Hanks and Eugene Beatle.
The performance will be given again this evening and those who missed it last night should make an effort to see it this evening. The orchestra also furnished excellent entertainment.

Auxiliary Visits Norwalk
A committee, composed of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hebson, Mrs. Wm. Webb, Sr., Mrs. Harry Carter, Sr., and Mrs. Louise Ollze, all of the American Legion Auxiliary, drove to Norwalk yesterday to visit and carry Christmas goodies to eight service men confined there. They took along oranges, apples, homemade and Christmas candies, gum and salted peanuts in generous quantities.
Not one of the eight men it receiving any compensation from the government, and receive only the assistance which the state can give them. In view of this fact, the auxiliary has decided to make monthly visits to the hospital, to extend whatever comfort and cheer they can to these unfortunate young men.
One of them is hopelessly insane and unable to receive visitors under any circumstances; one is very ill of diphtheria and is in quarantine; two others are hopelessly ill of mind, although not violent; the remainder are in fair condition and one of them, who has a wife and baby in Huntington Beach will be taken home for a Christmas visit.
Although these men belong in the Los Angeles district, they are receiving no aid from any source other than provided by the hospital through the state, hence the decision of the local auxiliary to make the frequent visits. Should anyone desire further information Mrs. Hebson or any member of the organization may be interviewed.

The evening was passed with visiting and discussing plans for the anticipated vacation season.

Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Heying returned last evening from a two months' trip to St. Louis and other points of interest. While in St. Louis they attended the 85th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Heying's mother.
Although they enjoyed the trip immensely, they are more than glad to get back to Anaheim. They raw snow every day during their visit until they reached the desert on the return journey. This is Voted Life Membership
Meeting with Mrs G. Heibert Goedde, the Home Missionary society of the White Temple yesterday bestowed upon Mrs Frank Machleb, a life membership in the organization, in appreciation of her faithful, efficient co-operation.

Family Birthday Dinner
Lee Eicholtz was very cleverly surprised last evening when Mrs. Eicholtz entertained relatives in honor of his birthday anniversary. When Mr. Eicholtz came to his home, he found the table pretty decorated with Xmas features and also goodies. A miniature Xmas tree was placed for the centerpiece. Covers marked plates for Mrs. Emma O'Rourke, Miss Wilma O'Rourke, Mrs. Lytel D. Larsen, Messrs Dan and Bert O'Rourke and Mr. and Mrs. Eicholtz. A birthday cake with the correct number of candles was placed before the honoree to cut.
The evening was delightfully passed with games and conversation.
"Messiah" Sung Tonight
The Community Christmas tree entertainment will be over in plenty of time to attend the musical event in the White Temple at 8:15 tonight, as sung by the choir under direction of Dr. H. H. Young, with Miss Curtis at the organ.
The final rehearsal for "The Messiah," last evening promises one of the most pretentious musical productions undertaken in Anaheim, as this classic is soldona produced in the smaller cities.
"Messiah" was first produced in London in 1729 and Jan. 9, 1770, it was sung in Trinity church, New York. It is rated as the crowning production of the classic period in sacred writings.
