SANTA FE SPGS.
DROPPING FAST
The decline of production at Santa Fe Springs seems to be the most alarming factor of the petroleum industry of the southland. The famous high gravity oil field is dropping down fast, the decline averaging a little better than 1000 barrels a day. Late figures compiled on the field's aggregate places the output at 186,000 barrels.
The Petroleum Midway staged a gusher comeback well for the Springs field at Wickman No. 1. Drilled to 4620 feet, Wickman No. 1 made 3000 barrels and sprung a real surprise for big production. A 3000-barrel well at this stage of the development of Santa Fe Springs means something to the field and a lot of encouragement to the Petroleum Midway.
The Shell Co. of California added approximately 2500 barrels of new production to its Springs output with three new wells. On the G. H. N. property No. 9 at 4680 is doing 700 barrels, No. 10 on the same property at 4645 is a 1000-barrel well, and Thompson 3 at 4500 is a 1000-barrel producer. With the completion of the three wells above the Shell Co. raised its Springs production to better than 12,000 barrels.
The west extension of the Springs field is now in the hands of the Standard Oil Co., and unless the Standard's Honghton well pleks up a sand pretty soon there will be no west extension. Drilling on the Houghton well has passed the 5100-foot mark and gray sand does not augur very well for the outlook. On the Santa Gertrudes property the Standard completed No. 6 at 4690 and got a 675-barrel well.

CHICKSAN GETS
750-BBL.W.
By Elwood Munger
Huntington Beach's only fire for the week was the barrel well of the Chicksan Co. The Chicksan Oil Co. has go to 4900 feet to get the fort, as the well is making gravity oil. The Chicksan well sets the Petroleum Midway well.
Huntington Beach produces hovers around 70,000 barrels and having assumed a more fitted basis, it is believed it continues to hold up to this for some time. During the part of the present month production has shown a gain.
With H. L. Whiston m such splendid progress on the lution of the water problem the Bickell well, the outline of western extension of Montebello field is looking every day. At 4395 the Bickell well is not showing any wail and instead is showing a l oil and gas. It is under Whiston will give the well a duction tryout at 4395 should it not make more than small well, it will go deeper.
Anaheim developments took an increase of interest with second rig in the field. W Keck, known as one of the successful independent operators of So.Calif., has a derrick in Brookhurt, two miles west Anaheim. Drilling on the Bickell hurst well is scheduled to commence before the end of the year.
The Standard Oil Co. is on the pioneering of the Anaheim field, and has its Wagner drilling at close to 2700 feet, to date the showings have been of any importance oway.
Belflower seems to be sited that the Calpetro Oil Producers Syndicate No. 1 has had sufficient showings to make a well, and is preparing to set next oil field for South California. While the condition of the Calpetro well is such that will never make much of a ducer, the well has revealed

By Elwood Munger
Huntington Beach's only feeder for the week was the 750-barrel well of the Chicksan Oil Co. had to add 4900 feet to get the prowler, but it was worth the effort, as the well is making 24-inch oil. The Chicksan well off the Petroleum Midway's van well.

The preliminary hearing of E.W. Topping, receiver for the Square Deal Oil Co., charged with obtaining money under false pretenses in alleged sale of oil units, will be resumed in February, it was announced today, the hearing having been adjourned by Justice J.B. Cox without being completed.
Panela Logue, a nurse, accuses Topping of misrepresentations in connection with the sale of a unit to her. Topping was defended by Former Judge W.H. Thomas, who is also attorney for a large number of unit holders in the company who have instituted both civil and criminal proceedings against Chris Nelson and other promoters of the company.
Topping's appointment as receiver for the company was the result of action taken by these stockholders, with whom he is understood to be in harmony. Panela Logue, however, directed her criminal accusations against the receiver, it was shown.

ahead of the 61-4 at 4636 are very good, and that as soon as the difficulty of shutting off water is accomplished, the Oak Ridge Oil Co. will bring in an oil well and a new oil field.
At Dominguez the Oak Ridge Oil Co.'s test well has passed the 5500-foot mark and the outlook cannot be said to be encouraging. Drilling will continue in order to make an exhaustive test.
Cypress, a little community west of Buena Park, is about to claim oil honors. The Gaddle Oil Development Co. has succeeded in getting financed, and drilling is now under way. Cypress is one of the places between Santa Fe Springs and Long Beach that has not been tried out, and may spring a surprise.
The Fairview Oil Co. is going ahead with its No. 2 on the Goldschmidt property, and will continue to 5500 before considering any abandonment ideas.

LIVERMORE MADE ONLY SMALL PROFIT
WASHINGTON, Dec. 21—Josse L. Livermore, New York broker who handled the sale of stock of the Mammoth Oil Co., a Sinclair subsidiary operating Teapot Dome, made only $9,996 profit out of the deal, he told the senate public lands committee today.
This profit represented less than one per cent of the total amount received for the sale of the stock, Livermore said.
Livermore declared the Mammoth stock was first placed on sale in October, 1922, six months after Harry F. Sinclair obtained the lease of Teapot Dome from ex-secretary of the interior Fall.
SHELL CO. LEADS AT LONG BEACH
The Shell Co. led the producers of the Long Beach field this last week for new production. The Shell Co. completed Andrews No. 1 at 5007 in the deep sand one and brought in a nice 1200-barrel well. The addition of the new Andrews producer raised the Shell's Signal Hill output to better than 53,000 barrels a day.
The General Petroleum succeeded in getting its deep well K-4 H. 4 on production only after plugging the well back some 400 feet. At 5518 bottom water made it necessary to plug back to 5118 where a 750-barrel producer was brought in, making 21.5 gravity oil.
The National Oil Co.'s No. 1 at 4538 refused to make a flowing well and is being put on the pump. Harry C. Noonan has decided to quit his south slope test well after the failure of the Petroleum Midway's Ella to make anything better than a water well. The United Oil Co. got a vice producer out of its Denni 2 rilled to 5050 feet. The well is making 1600 barrels of clean 28.2 gravity oil.
Long Beach production continues to hold up remarkably. The field is not doing the big decline scheduled for it some time ago by a major experts but continues to hold.
FARM BUREAU TO SEEK MEMBERS
In preparation for a membership drive to be conducted during January, the Orange county farm bureau has formulated some rather extensive and definite plans.
The plans call for a publicity campaign, an essay contest and a thorough canvass of the Orange county farmers. The farmers will be asked to sign a card which is actually an order on their co-operative marketing association to pay their dues annually until notified to the contrary. Because of this last feature of the campaign it is expected that this will be the last big membership drive of the bureau.
The actual drive for members will start in each center, following the date of the center meeting and last for one week. This spreads the campaign out throughout the county, affording the general committee an opportunity to visit each district as the drive progresses. Good speakers and stereoicon slides have been secured for the January meetings of the centers, at which time the drive will officially start.
To expedite matters in putting over such a big project, A. M. Stanley, secretary-manager of the Orange county farm bureau, has drawn up a "blueprint" of the drive. This blueprint is in the form of a calendar on which the performance for each day and by whom performed has been noted. The entire project and blueprint is considered the most complete of any in the state, and the state farm bureau officials have asked for copies to be placed on their files.
