A. Geissinger preaches at the White Temple Supper morning on the text. “The steward should bear the burdens of weak, and not to please the selves.” Romans 15:1. We have here one of the most words of Christianity. Stress is for the bearing of burying Christianity does not give strength for its own sake, bids it bear burdens. That what strength is for. Christity bids us to be gentle, for ing, compassidate. It puts women and children first. Its class picture is that of the Good maritan. It builds hotels, hides and refuges and cares for sick and the infirm that they be restored. It's great word is not however, but life. Yet if it gives life and abundant life to it must care for those who less fortunate. It is not the slaves, of the weak and firm, but a gospel for all kind. Yet just because it is the strong must bear their dens and those of the weak. Right at this point Christity is fiercely challenged by gospel of the strong, the philosophy of the superman, wscouts Christianity’s emp upon compassion. This shows philosophy teaches that world belongs to the strongest that the weak must be driven the wall. Has a man fallen at thieves? Let him die. Family nature’s way of weeding our less sturdy. The scourge strikes down the weaker on a blessing in disguise. It may a better stock. Tuberculosis all diseases do but prune our Three of the leaders snapped in Washington. Left, Mrs. Leonard C. XMAS VODE BILL WILL BE BEST EVER The sets and scenes for the Xmas vaudeville show at Anaheim high school will boast some of the cleverest and most original ideas ever seen in local theatricals. A specially constructed curtain of various colored blocks has been made for a Spanish scene in which Miss Gretchen Holland, talented dancer, and entertainer, and Everett Wells, well known football star, take part. They have clever songs and dances. The spotlight on the bright curtain will make a brilliant effect. The stage craft class and dramatics class have gone to more work and expense than ever before and the success of the show depends upon the cooperation of the townspeople. Coach Lucile Dickley is putting no end of time and effort on the show to make it a success. Reserved seats are on sale at Kenip brothers stores for both nights. The show will start promptly at 8:15. This will give ample time Friday evening for the community Xmas tree entertainment. Another act in which clever scenes are used is "Neath the Italian Moon." This alone is worth coming miles to see. A gondola was made especially for this part of the program and it will be a novel stage scene. Miss Constance Williams and Elvin Grauer have leads in the act and have some clever zongs. They are well known for their vocal ability. A boys' quartet composed of Hudson Hanks, Jack Royalty, Lawrence Sweeney, and Victor Rees will give several numbers in connection. Allen Goddard is the gondolier. A string instrument arrangement will play for the number. Playing will be Miss Elizabeth Donnelly, Myrtle Clemer and John Mubee, George Barry and Ronald Anderson. A revue, featuring a dozen pretty girls, will be a delightful revelation that no one should miss. Their act is the balloon chorus. In 1999, probably be featured as the headliner. It is an ultra-modern skit dealing with problems of the future. It is clever indeed and was written by the well-known William C. de Mille. It is absolutely the funniest thing ever put on at Anaheim High or any of the downtown剧院s. The cast is William Seitz, Katherine Cravath and Gretchen Holland. Geissinger preached the White Temple Sunday morning on the text: "The strong old bear the burdens of the earth, and not to please them." Romans 15:1. We have here one of the major causes of Christianity. Strength for the bearing of burdens. Stetianity does not glorify strength for its own sake, but it bears burdens. That is strength is for Christ. Christians us to be gentle, forbear, compassionate. It puts womand children first. Its classical care is that of the Good Satan. It builds hotels, homes refuges and cares for the and the infirm that they may restored. It's great word is not pity, never, but life. Yet if it is to life and abundant life to all, must care for those who are fortunate. It is not the cult elaves, of the weak and insecure, but a gospel for all mankind. Yet just because it is that, strong must bear their burdens and those of the weak, too. Right at this point Christianity is fiercely challenged by the old belongs to the strong and the weak must be driven to wall. Has a man fallen among wolves? Let him die. Famine is here's way of weeding out the sturdy. The scourge that kicks down the weaker ones is lessing in disguise. It means better stock. Tuberculosis and diseases do but prune out the sturdy. The hour has struck for the mobilization of Christian conviction against this false philosophy of war. And it is a false philosophy. The instincts of man are not on its side. Nor is it true that it is in harmony with the nature of things. Progress has not come by the strong killing off the weak. Man has risen by reason of his ability to suppress his selfishness and to co-operate. Progress has always come by some Moses reaching down to lift up his less powerful brethren. By some Booker Washington turning a chicken coop into a schoolhouse, where he may give light and power to those in darkness and superstition. Progress has come not by the warriors, who kill off the finest youths in every generation and thus set back the clock of time, but by those who have given us fire, the wheel, the lever, the printing press, the compass, electricity, language, our moral codes and our religious ideals. We must drive this war traffic out of our life as we have driven the liquor traffic out. We must silence the swashbucklers in our college halls and legislatures and governments. We must carry the teachings and spirit of Jesus through all our corporate life, industrial and political. It is foolish to preach Christianity on Sundays and spend millions of dollars annually for the propagation of the gospel while diplomats are undermining our work seven days in the week. The time has come to do away with our secret and lying diplomacy; our veiled preparations for war, our so-called economic penetration. Unless the decent men and women who hate war and believe that will determine whether or not civilization shall be saved. U.S. Farmers Plant Less Wheat WASHINGTON, Dec. 19. American farmers have sown 12.6 per cent less winter wheat this fall than they did last year, the department of agriculture announced this afternoon on the basis of reports throughout the country. The total area sown this fall is 40,191,000 acres, compared with 45,950,000 acres in the fall of 1922. In Christianity speedily organize and make good-will effective, we shall be plunged into another reign of poison gas and submarines. I call upon all women, all youths, all Christian believers to come out boldly and speak out in no uncertain voice. Let our representatives know what we think. We were promised by our political leaders during the last presidential campaign that the world would be reorganized for peace. Now they stand on first one foot and the other, but do nothing. Let them hear from their constituencies. The church is traitorous to Christ if now it turns its attention to the petty issues or begins to absorb itself over fundamentalism or modernism. All those within and without the churches who believe in building the spirit of Christ's teachings into the corporate life of the world should band together for that one purpose. That is the only thing worth while now. The creation of an intelligent and effective public opinion is the supreme need of the present hour—an hour that will determine whether or not civilization shall be saved.
