GARRULOUS BIRD
BARES RUM CACHE
SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 7.
Does it pay to have a pet that knows your secrets? See for yourself.
A number of prohibition officers were sent to raid a block on West Main street. The officers swooped down on the block in the early hours of the morning.
The agents entered a house and confiscated 60 quarts of alleged contraband beer, three gallons of moonshine whiskey, a quart of gin and a 5-gallon copper still. They were about to leave with their booty when a parrot perched in a cage suspended from the ceiling cried:
"Have another; there's more in the bedroom!" The police took the parrot's advice, searched a bedroom and under the bed found a 50-gallon keg of alleged moonshine snash.
STRAY CATS MOVE
IN ON OHIOAN
COLUMBUS, O.. Dec. 7.—Ernest Penrose, a Newark, Ohio, business man, states that seemingly every auto tourist who passed his home during the last summer had a couple of undesirable cats to get rid of and left them all at his home on the road between Granville and Columbus, O. And the embarrassing part of it is that the cats have all taken a liking to their new domicile and decided to stay. As a result, Penrose's home has assumed the aspect of a "cat orphanage," with more than 200 inmates.
Penrose complains of the lack of housing facilities and fears that many of the cats will freeze this winter. He has begged people to come and get a real nice "pusay" from the fine collection, but practically everybody refuses to accept the offer.
Suffering cats!

Autonobiles in the United States now consume nearly 6,000,000 gallons of gasoline a year. This amount of "gas" would fill a lake a mile deep and covering three and a half acres.

COLLEGE "SERVICE DEPT." POPULAR
One year ago the department of regional service was organized at Pomona college, leaving special line of service to be determined largely by the development and necessities of the future. Gradually, four distinct important lines have come under the direction of this department.
The publicity work of the college is under the supervision of the regional service department as well as necessary arrangements for conventions and other gatherings held at the college. Organizations of various kinds are recognizing more and more unusual facilities afforded by Pomona for meetings of this character. An illustration of this is very successful annual meeting of the Southern California Editorial Ass'n last September.
Calls for speakers are cared for through this department. These calls are not allowed to interfere with the regular work of the college but with about 100
