Miscellaneous Would Unite Railways Here Planning to join the tracks of the Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and Union Pacific at Anaheim, this city may be made an important interchange point for incoming, outgoing and passing freight. The project, which was first presented by C. O. Henderson of the Sperry Flour Co., has been taken up by the Chamber of Commerce and the Klwanis, Rotary and Lions clubs are expected to thresh it out also. Terminal rates with large savings in freight costs would be a feature. The Merchants' Section of the Chamber of Commerce strongly endorsed the plan at their meeting last night. It is declared that trucking from one railway to another would be eliminated here. Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Pasadena all have such interchange points. The project will be easy of accomplishment in Anaheim because the Union Pacific tracks are only 50 feet from those of the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific and only 50 feet of the 90 remains to be purchased. —Shop Early— PUSH PLANS FOR JOINT CEMETERY (Continued from page six) for Central Memorial park. He stated that the basic plan was modeled on the cemetery at Washington, D. O. He told about the beautiful chapel and its organ, the crematory, crypts, and other buildings. As a result representing a splendid memorial for our soldier dead was mentioned, as well as many other new ideas never before introduced into a cemetery. He stated that they had planned many plans. RAPID SELLING? JUST READ THIS "We are not claiming a world's record for A. A. Ambrose, who handles our city sales department, but we do maintain that he could reasonably be regarded as a fast worker." So spake a member of the firm of Sidnam Realty Co. "Friday afternoon Ambrose secured the listing of a 6-room house on Walnut street and in an hour and fifty minutes by the clock had located a house prospect; had shown the property, and had a check together with the purchaser's and seller's names on the dotted line of a sales agreement." After some remarks by George C. Soest, city counselman of Garden Grove; by Mr. Clark, supt. of sales, on organization and the financial side of cemeteries. Central Memorial park in particular, Mr. McKenzie outlined the methods to be adopted in furthering the work of organization. He stated that the moment had arrived for the appointment of an executive committee who would then appoint a development and building committee, a maintenance committee and a finance committee, together with any other committees that were necessary to carry on the work of the park. He pointed out that when 51 per cent of the lots had been sold control of the cemetery passed to the owners, who appointed their own governing board and committees. He said that cemeteries were closely guarded by state laws and that they were safe from any of the possible evils that might baffle any ordinary commercial proposition. He showed how the money was apportioned to maintenance, development and other purposes. Franklin Rodley PUSH PLANS FOR JOINT CEMETERY (Continued from page six) for Central Memorial park. He stated that the basic plan was modeled on the cemetery at Washington, D. O. He told about the beautiful chapel and its organ, the crematory, crypts, and other buildings. As nature representing a splendid memorial for our soldier dead was mentioned, as well as many other new ideas never before introduced into a cemetery. He stated that they had planned many large cemeteries, but that they had never worked on anything yet that gave such premises of magnificence and satisfaction as Central Memorial park. "It will be the finest thing we have ever put across," he said. Walter S. Huddle, Anaheim, stated that Anaheim was utterly without a cemetery, and needed one very badly. He pledged the support of his community and said that Central Memorial park was ideally situated for Anaheim interments. W. A. Morrison, the new park superintendent of Central Memorial park, paid tribute to the fine manner in which the park was laid out, especially the driveways, which were wider than any others in California, he said. He thought the location was ideal. "In these days of automobiles the distance means very little. The old times of railroad transportation are nearly past. Good roads will make this new cemetery one of the best in the country." Alex P. Nelson, district attorney of Orange county, attested to the excellent judgment of Mr. McKenzie in his selection of a site for Central Memorial park. He said that when the people of Santa Ana and of Orange county generally were fully informed of the location and nature of the new park, they would rally to its support. He said that there was a need for such a cemetery, and that "conditions" had reached the limit. "There is no doubt in my mind whatever that the people of my county will welcome it," was his final statement. PANTOMIME by J. H.
