RICH "SERVANT" TO REST ON U. S. SOIL
LONDON, Nov. 20.—The exhumed remains of Eliza Walker, servant-girl daughter of a cobbler, who inherited her master's fortune and later went to America, where she became prominent and was admitted to the highest social circle in New York, are to be taken to America, in accordance with her desire to rest on American soil.
Miss Walker died in October last year while on a visit to Lincoln, her native city, and was buried there. Her body was exhumed in the presence of the American vice consul of Nottingham, who supervised its removal. She was 86 years old.
Residents in the district in which she stayed in Lincoln were natounded at her wealth, variously computed from $1,000.00 to $10,000.00, which she stated she had amassed by speculating with the capital left to her by her former employer, an eccentric old gentleman living at Kingston on Thames.
She talked freely of her life in America, telling her neighbors of the house she occupied on Fifth ave., and her experiences in New York's social life. Always regarded as eccentric, she appeared one day in the streets of Lincoln dressed completely in white, even to a white old-fashioned parasol.
RUSS INVESTIGATE BIRTH CONTROL
MOSCOW, Nov. 30.—Soviet Commissar of Health Simaskko today appointed a special commission to investigate birth control.
SIMPLE GOWNS FOR HOSTESS' WEAR
Hostess gowns are being shown at the salons of the large dressmakers in preparation for the coming winter teas and receptions.
Simplicity is the essential note of the hostess gown, combined with chic and quiet beauty. The hostess in her own salon must be as well gowned as any of her guests, but still go unnoticed.
It must be something between a day and an evening gown. Silks and soft satins, crepes and velvets are used in preference to woolen stuffs. Moire is a popular material this winter, but not the stiff, hard tissue our grandmothers used to wear. The new moire is as soft and supple as other silks and needs little or no trimming. Charlotte Appert is using it for a striking hostess gown. It is in softest manue color with low neck and no sleeves, together with one of the new butterfly bow trains which gives a dignified charm without annoying the matron as she moves about among her guests.
Nicole Groult makes a charming model in printed black and white crepe do chine. The bottom of the sleeve and skirt is in black crepe and the sleeve lining, the underskirt, the buttons and the buttonhole are in Persian crepe rose color. Another in printed velvet has its skirt and very straight bodice of dull blue silk striped vertically with gold lace. There is molekin down the sides and gold lace for a belt.
Black velvet always makes a dignified hostess gown. One pretty model has its ruffle placed very low and is very straight and beltless, the only ornament being a diamond placard low on one hip. When black velvet is worn dur-

Says His Prescription Has Powerful Influence Over Rheumatism
Mr. James H. Allen suffered for years with rheumatism. Many times this terrible disease left him helpless and unable to work.
He finally decided, after years of ceaseless study, that no one can be free from rheumatism until the accumulated impurities, commonly called uric acid deposits, were dissolved in the joints and muscles and expelled from the body.
With this idea in mind he consulted physicians, made experiments and finally compounded a prescription that quickly and completely banished every sign and symptom of rheumatism from his system.
He freely gave his discovery, which he called Allenrhu, to others who took it, with what might be called marvelous success. After years of urging he decided to let sufferers everywhere know about his discovery through the newspapers. He has therefore instructed Heying’s Pharmacy to dispense Allenrhu with the understanding that if the first pint bottle does not show the way to complete recovery he will gladly return your money without comment.
NEW LAMP BURNS 94 PER CENT AIR
BEATS ELECTRIC OR GAS
A new oil lamp that gives an amazingly brilliant, soft, white light, even better than gas or electricity, has been tested by the U.S. government and 35 leading universities, and found to be superior to ten ordinary oil lamps. It burns without odor, smoke or noise—no pumping up, is simple and safe. Burns 94 per cent air and 6 per cent common kerosene (coal oil).
The inventor, W. A. Johnson, 161 N. Union ave., Portland, Ore., is offering to send a lamp on 10 days’ FREE trial, or even to give one FREE to the first user in each locality who will help him to introduce it. Write him today for full particulars. Also ask him to explain how you can get the agency and without experience or money make $250 to $500 per month.
