Sending the home-town paper to friends in other cities as a means of boosting one's native city was advocated here by Evangelist Wm. J. Lockhart in one of his addresses during an evangelistic campaign. "I wonder if you people in Shenandoah appreciate the splendid newspapers and the fine men behind them," Lockhart said. "Going from towns of 5000 to 1,000,000 population continually, I have a chance to know what newspapers are, and I want to say that the newspaper fraternity in this city is to be highly commended. I believe you owe much of your progress and development to your newspapers. Let them know that you appreciate them in a substantial way. Subscribe for half a dozen of these papers and send them to your friends all over the country and advertise Shenandoah." GUARD TUT TOMB LUXOR, Egypt, Nov. 21. A detachment of Egyptian soldiers arrived soon to guard Tut-Ankh-Amen's tomb, following discovery by Howard Carter of a plot by native grave robbers to enter the tomb and steal the relics. Carter, fearing that the native robbers might break open the sarcophagus and steal the mummy, asked the Egyptian government for a guard of soldiers. Cartier said the inner shrine, containing the mummy, would not be reopened until the Egyptian government gives a decision on press news rights. TO DEVELOP SHALE Belgiang are planning to develop 25,060,000 acres of oil and shale deposits in Estonia and to pipe the oil obtained to the coast of the Baltic. these papers and send them to your friends all over the country and advertise Shenandoah." PLEADS FOR MORE POETRY ON STAGE LONDON, Nov. 20.—A plea for more poetry in the theater is made by Miss Clemence Dane, celebrated English dramatist. "Prose on the stage," she says, "expresses only what people say. Verse expresses what they feel and are too shy to say." "Every great age has been expressed in verse. The Elizabethan age was expressed in the verse of Shakespeare. Is it not possible that we are entering another great age which will produce another Shakespeare? "England is now full of young people trying to right verse. This country is crowded with poets. They are very sensitive and easily hurt by criticism or ridicule."
