PROFITS OF FAIR TOTALED $2810
Orange-co. Fair closed with an operating profit of $2,810.42,
says E. E. Campbell, secretary of the Fair Board, in his report to directors of the County Farm Bureau.
Arrangements have been made recently with the co-operative marketing associations whereby the association will materially assist the Farm Bureau membership drive and will honor orders against the associations for the payment of the dues. Under these arrangements it is thought that this will probably be the last big membership drive necessary in Orange-co., so a good deal of energy will be put into the matter. The committee is A. M. Stanley, E. E. Campbell, F. K. Kirker, C. H. Henry and A. E. Block.
The bureau will take part in the Armistice Day Parade at Orange Nov. 12th. A committee appointed by the president of the bureau is busy preparing a float for the hitosical pageant. In addition to this C. M. Hollinghead was appointed as a committee of one to arrange for presenting the officials of the organization in the first section of the parade.
The directors refused to take any part in the controversial matters pertaining to the development of an agricultural school at Riverside. The Riverside Farm Bureau presented a strong resolution for the consideration of the local organization, but the directors promptly laid the matter on the table again showing the conservatism that marks the work of the farm bureau.
As a diversion from the usual course of business J. A. Smiley made the statement that the desired profit of fair totaled $2810.

ASKS $25,000 FOR INJURIES TO LIMB
Damages amounting to $25,000 are asked by Wm. H. McElroy of Los Angeles in a civil suit filed today against W. J. Dalton, M. Haydls and the Truck Owners and Shippers, Inc., of Los Angeles, following an accident in which he claims that his right leg from the knee down, including the foot, was permanently injured.
The alleged accident took place on Tuesday, Oct. 30, and the legs and foot were "smashed and torn." McElroy asserts. Beyond mentioning Orange county, McElroy does not state where the accident occurred.
GERMAN “SCOTCH” MAY INJURE TRADE
LONDON, Nov. 3.—The British whiskey export trade stands in grave danger of German competition.
According to Harpers' Wine and Spirit Gazette, German exporters are offering, in London, "German Scotch" whiskey for sale at $7.50 and $2.50, respectively, for highest and lowest qualities f. o. b. Hamburg, for the Congo and East and West Africa.
No business has yet been done, but Scotch whiskey merchants expect to be confronted very shortly with severe competition from Germany.

The Riverside Farm Bureau presented a strong resolution for the consideration of the local organization, but the directors promptly laid the matter on the table again showing the conservatism that marks the work of the farm bureau.
As a diversion from the usual course of business J. A. Smiley made the statement that the desert winds, sometimes affecting Southern California, has long been masquerading under a misnomer. According to Mr. Smiley, the proper name "san-tana" the Spanish name for "big wind" or "devil wind" has been mis-produced in a manner not pleasing to a large majority of Orange county people. It was suggested that all Farm Bureau folk, at least, use the proper pronunciation.
