FIND MAN'S BODY VENTURA, Nov. 2—(INS) —His head beaten almost to a pulp with a hammer and rock, the body of a well dressed man of about 35 was discovered in an alfalfa field near El Rio seven miles east of here, today by a little Mexican boy. The murder victim is believed by authorities to have been brought to the scene of the crime from Los Angeles in an automobile and then slain after a quarrel. The rock and the hammer handle, both blood-covered, were found on the highway near the alfalfa field. The head of the hammer is believed to have been carried away by the murderer. Blood covered the highway in the vicinity of the crime and even spattered the trunks of trees, indicating, police said, that the man put up a terrific fight before he was killed. After the killing, the slayer dragged the body of his victim about 60 feet into the field and then apparently fled. Residents of the vicinity stated they heard dogs barking and howling about 10 o'clock last night and detectives believe the murder occurred about that time. Burns 94 cent air and 6 per cent common kerosene (coal oil). The inventor, W. A. Johnson is offering to send a lamp once days' FREE trial, or even to get one FREE to the first user each locality who will help him introduce it. Write blah day for full particulars.
