Y., Oct. 31. — No matter who wins the contest between the Republican and Democratic candidates for the position of town clerk of Bristol, the business of the town clerk apparently will be conducted in the home of Joel Jones of Bristol Center. The Republicans have nominated Jones for the office, and the Democrats have nominated his wife, Florence Jones, for the same position. LIMA, O., Oct. 30. — A house divided against itself—politically. This describes the situation at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Kuntz, Leipsic, near here. Kuntz is a Republican, Mrs. Kuntz is a Democrat. At a recent caucus held for the purpose of placing in the field nominees for various village and township offices, Kuntz was nominated for member of the village school board. Knowing that his wife desired to make the race for that office on the Democratic ticket, he promptly declined. He then was nominated for member of the board of public affairs. Mrs. Kuntz obtained her heart's desire at the hands of the Democrats and is making the race for membership on the board of education. She recently was elected president of the W. C. T. U. of Putnam county. START COOLIDGE-HYDE MO. With a small notebook in his hand and a penell behind his car he goes around the city pretending to be a gas meter reader. He picks out homes where families are away, using skeleton keys. Neighbors have repeatedly seen him enter homes, but his clever disguise permitted him to enter the house and escape with what loot he was able to find. WANTED — Girl for groomhouse; 3 in family. WRIGHT'S GARAGE START COOLIDGE-HYDE MO. BOOM KANSAS CITY, Oct. 31.—Enthusiastic Republicans, eager to have Missouri play a prominent role in the next presidential campaign, have organized a Coolidge-Hyde movement, which is gaining strength in this state. Under the leadership of prominent members of the party in souri they plan to push Governor Arthur M. Hyde as a runmate to President Coolidge, from the Missourians would back for President for the next regular term. "Candidacy of Governor Hyde for the vice-presidency would give Missouri Republicans something to rally around." declare local Republicans who are instrumental in organizing the movement. Missouri is generally regarded as a Democratic state, but, contend backers of the proposed Coolidge-Hyde combine, "every time the voters of this state are properly aroused" it has gone Republican. INTERESTING HITS OF BASEBALL NEWS Pitcher "Rube" Schauer has retired from organized baseball. He formerly hurled for the New York Giants but for several years past has been with Minneapolis.
