HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS ENTERTAIN CLUB
The entertainment Tuesday at the weekly luncheon of the Kiwanis Club in the Elks' Clubhouse was given by four High School girls, led by Gretchen Holland.
The girls, who were introduced by Miss Holland, gave a delightful program of musical selections, including the singing of Cadman's "At Dawning" by Miss Constance Williams, accompanied by Miss Harriet Austin, a violin solo, Dvorak's ever popular "Humoresque" and a funny recitation, "Aunt Dooleful's Visit to a Sick Room", by Miss Holland. Miss Holland also played piano selections.
Three Boy Scouts who sold tickets for their show at the Fairyland, Oct. 29, sold as many tickets minus two to Kiwanians as Rotarians and Lions combined, they said.
C. C. Smith urged the club to help make the school bond election Saturday a success. The hours in which the polls will be open are from eight a.m. to eight p.m. at the Intermediate school.
The club voted to enter a float in the Armistice Day parade at Orange. The scene at Appomatox in the Civil War will be represented.
V. M. Tressler of La Habra spoke in behalf of "On to Fresno" or the State convention. A Governor will be elected and the 1924 convention city, which it is hoped will be a Southern California City, chosen. A caravan from here will go, or pok-sibly a special car.

PROTEST GRAVEL PIT IN FULLERTON
A petition signed by 61 residents in the vicinity of S. Yale avenue was presented Fullerton trustees last night protesting against the establishment of a sand and gravel yard in that vicinity by the county.
The trustees instructed the city clerk to communicate with supervisors, fell them of the protest and also of the trouble the city had with the L. A. Paving Co., plant just off East Commonwealth avenue.
Lloyd A. Hulbert was granted permission to establish a filling station at S. Spadra road and Truslow avenue.
H. G. Upham of Orange, chairman of the Armistice day program to be given at that city, asked donation of the Fullerton band for the parade, and also invited the city trustees to take part in the parade in a decorated automobile. Both requests were favorably passed upon.
Mr. Upham said that the parade has been assured of 80 floats depicting the history of the United States from the landing of the Norsemen to the present day. This is to be Section 2. Section 1 of the parade is to consist, among others, of the national guard, the G. A. R.; and other military units.

The loss from the fire in the Unip Oil Co.'s Morse No. 4 well in the Richfield field will amount to $25,000, a company official declared today. This is to machinery and equipment only. It is impossible to estimate the loss in oil and gas consumed. The same man said, however, that production had been estimated at times at as high as 5000 barrels, compared with the 3000 barrels first announced.
The oil is 25.5 gravity, and there is only .4 of one per cent of foreign matter.
The well now has been capped and sanded up and will be cleaned out and put on production at once.
The fire started at 3:30 a.m. yesterday and was out at 1:00 p.m. The derrick was completely destroyed. No one was hurt. Mrs. Lottie Morse owns the land, which is in the heart of the field.
