TEACHERS TO HAVE "VISITING DAYS"
Visiting days were promised each of the teachers during the term, at the grammar school teachers' meeting Saturday afternoon, but with the request that two teachers from the same building not take the same day. Mr. Smith requested that these visiting days be taken before the holiday season, since the teachers put it off so long last year that some of them did not get to take a visiting day.
He asked the teachers whether or not they wanted a three-day institute to be held in Santa Ana, or a five-day institute, two days to be in Los Angeles. The vote was almost unanimous for a three-day institute.
He promised them a greater social time this year than the year before, and asked each of them to hold a date open for a picnic the second Friday. He did not definitely promise the picnic on this date, but indicated that efforts would be made to get around to it by that time.
He spoke of the new change in the teachers pension law, and said that the fee this year would be $12 instead of $8 as in the past. "Nor is it optional," he said. "The law says you have to."
He urged the teachers not to throw temptation in the way of the pupils by leaving money on their desks. The loss of the money would not enter into the consideration, but the effect upon the character of the pupils. It is the teachers' business to help the youngsters to ward off temptation, he said.
He asked if all the teachers had rooms, and, since there was no response, he presumed that everyone had lodging.
E. H. Metcalf, trustee, was present, and delivered a short address, saying that the Anaheim grammar schools has reason to be proud of its personnel of teachers this year, and extended them the cordial invitation to the hospitality of Anaheim, saying that he hoped to have at least a slight personal acquaintance with each of them before the term is out. He said that he plans to visit each room

He said that he plans to visit each room during the term, at least once.
He called attention of the growth of Anaheim, and the necessity of extending the buildings. He said that the new intermediate school building has been erected without bond issue, a credit to the town. He said that people are willing to spend money for education, "realizing as they do, so much of our happiness and welfare depends upon it." He said the trustees of the grammar school, while not penurious, believe in the principles of carefully looking after expenditures, and urged the teachers to inculcate into their pupils a spirit of thrift. He said that the higher rate of taxation, growing larger year by year, is becoming a burdensome problem.
J. W. Elliott, trustee, was also present, and gave a short talk, backing up what Mr. Metcalf had said.

"WAYFARER" IS TO RUN TWO MORE NITES
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17—"The Wayfarer" will be held over for part of this week, according to Merle Armitage, business manager. Two additional performances will be given Monday and Tuesday nights.
These will make up for the performances that were postponed on account of rain. Bad weather interfered Tuesday and Wednesday.
At first it was planned to close the production Saturday night, but because of the thousands who would thus be disappointed, and because of the tremendous cost of staging the pageant, it was deemed wise to hold the seven performances that were promised.
Those who had tickets for postponed nights may exchange them for other nights at the Philharmonic box office. Box office reports continued heavy sale of seats.

SIDE-SPLITTING COMEDY AT UNITED
"It was wonderful". It was the funniest thing I ever saw," "I never enjoyed myself so much in all my life," "Gee, My sides still ache from laughing so hard," are just a few of the remarks heard as the capacity audience filed out of the United Theatre last night after seeing the popular Fred Siegel Stock Co. in their side-splitting portrayal of "Parlor, Bedroom and Bath."
Yea, folks, it sure is some comedy. There wasn't a quiet second during the entire two hours of the play. Just one continuous roar, laugh upon laugh, until it seemed there wasn't another laugh left in anybody. It is one of the greatest pieces ever put on here and should have capacity houses for the two remaining days that it is here. Anyone who enjoys a good laugh doesn't want to miss seeing this great comedy.
Mr. Siegel in the leading part is a scream and all of his company lives up to the example set by him.
Mr. Siegel, in his little curtain talk, told of his aims and plans for his forthcoming attractions and gave us the good news that he is planning to put on soon a musical comedy. And in his musical comedy efforts he is desirous of getting some of the young ladies of Anaheim who can sing to assist him in his productions, so any of you young ladies who would like to appear with Mr. Siegel and his popular company in a musical comedy, just leave your name, and where you can be reached, with Mr. Langway, the resident manager, and he will turn them over to Mr. Siegel who will then get in touch with you. Now's your chance girls! Don't all crowd at once.

Manning this ship, which is slowly sinking, there comes a fierce storm, during which, in a fight for the girl, one of the stokers is killed by a falling mast. The girl and her protector are finally rescued by a battleship. Then comes the big kid-napping of the bride at the wedding and—but to tell the rest woud spoil the picture for you who have not yet seen this wonderful program. The same program will be shown again tonight and tomorrow night.
