NUPTIAL RITES
PERFORMED IN
MISSION CITY
A MARRIAGE license was issued yesterday in Riverside to Miss Evelyn Maelstrom, of Anaheim, and Mr. Henry Smith, of Long Beach, both of whom gave their ages as 21. Details of the ceremony were not reported.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Josephine Maelstrom, of 206 Thalia-st, aand is a popular girl . She attended A. U. H. S., but discontinued her studies before graduation. She also attended business college in Los Angeles.
She has been an abl assistant at the Crow's Nest, a local confectionery, leaving her position Saturday. She is a native of Nevada.
Mr. Smith is an oil worker in a Long Beach field and the happy young couple will make their home in that city.
Prominent Girl Married
The marriage of Miss Marguerite Tedford, popular Orange-co daughter, to Mr. Nelson T. Nowell, of Honolulu, was solemnized Tuesday evening in the First Congregational church, Santa Ana, Rev. Perry Schrock officiating. The wedding was marked by elaborate setting which well befitted the occasion.
The bride was attended by Mrs. Lewis Mertz, of Riverside, nee Margaret Younglove, who is a bride of two Juniors in Recital
A piano recital will be given by the Intermediate and Junior pupils of Mrs. C.A. McCullah at the Elks club, at 8 p.m. tomorrow. The program will be presented in the form of a musical play, "The Land of the Elves", by Mathilde Bilbro. Fundamentally it is to present pupils at the piano, but along with this the child student is given experience in ensemble and memory work, rhythm, expression and imagination.
The first scene opens in a music studio with pupils and teacher participating. The second scene takes the children to Fairyland, where many strange adventures come to pass.
The costumes and stage settings are under the supervision of Mrs. E.A. Collins . The children who appear at the piano are: Hazel Filer, Fern Mathis, Lois Reeves, John Oris Sellinger, Katherine Anna McCullah, Margery Mott, Gawels Nichols, Neva Fay Gerdes, Juanita Dungan, Helen Mott, Helen Hitchcock, Frances Hein, Marie White. The following appear in costume: Sand Man, Robert Mott; Fairy Queen, Helen Mott; Witch, Neva Fay Gerdes; Dragon, Miller Dungan; Dandelion, Katherine Anna McCullah; Wild Rose; Gawels Nichols, Helen Hitchcock; Violet; Margaret Nichols, Evelyn Durfee; Daisy, Juanita Dungan; Butterfly, Frances Hein; Firefly, Hazel Filer; Pixies, Howard West, John Oris Sellinger, Clyde Harris. Other children taking part are Katherine and Ellen Collins, Elizabeth and Doris Berger, Gordon Lewis.

The Misses Dorothy and Berenice Daly, of Los Angeles, and Helen Hauge, of Long Beach, all Pi Beta Phi sisters, and Miss Elizabeth Nowell, sister of the groom, were the other attendants.
Fraternity brothers served as best man and ushers for Mr. Nowell, Mr. Alan Revill presided at the organ.
After an informal reception at the bride's parental home, they left for an extended honeymoon.
Helpers' Guild Tomorrow
The Helpers' Guild will meet at 2 p.m. tomorrow with Mrs. A. G. H. Bode, 212 South Ohio-st. All members are urged to be in attendance, as there is quite a bit of work to be completed for the bazaar, Oct. 6.
No Choir Practice
There will be no rehearsal of St. Michael's choir this week. All members will please note the omission.
Camp Family Arrives
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Camp, formerly of Laurel, Mont., arrived yesterday to make their home at Camphaven, the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Camp. The gentlemen are brothers and were the most prominent citizens in their former home town. Mr. Camp purchased a large acreage years ago and had the railroad station centrally located on his land. The town of Laurel rapidly settled and became a thriving community. Mr. Camp was known as "the father of Laurel."
The newcomers have one daughter, Miss Katherine Camp, who will enter Anaheim high school as a junior. The family left August 20 by auto and stopped at many points of interest en route.
Miss Olive Dumke left today over the Santa Fe for Chicago, Ill.

Attend Annual Conference
Mrs. C. C. Smith and Mrs. J. T. Hutchinson were in Los Angeles yesterday to attend the first day's session of the Southern California conference of Home Missionary societies of the Methodist church held in Amsterville church. Reports of homes under the supervision of the district were given and preparations for attending the National conference in the east were discussed. Mrs. F. V. Prutt, of Orange, was favorably considered as the national delegate.
Thousand-Mile Auto Trip
Concluding a 1045 mile trip made in ten days, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Shear and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Meade Shear, are recounting the pleasures of the trip driving north by the coast route they visited interesting places and arrived in San Francisco for the Labor Day parade, which they say is the finest they ever saw on a like occasion. Two days were spent in that city. A visit to the Sacramento fair was another enjoyable feature. They found the exhibits finer than they had ever seen and specially praised the live stock showing.
They returned through the valley and encountered no trouble of any sort during the entire journey.
School Record for Twins
With the opening of Pullerton Junior college this year, Ray and Fay Callor, twin sister and brother, will enter upon their second year's work. These young people, twins of Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Callor, started their school life together in Anaheim and kept together in every grade since graduating in the same class in '22. They will enter college probably in Los Angeles upon graduation next spring and it is their earnest hope that their college life will continue uninterrupted.

The radio today announced that "The Wayfarer." at the Coliseum, in Exposition park, will be continued three nights next week. The rain of Tuesday night and the wet grounds last night prevented showing either time and large, disappointed crowds were turned away. Pythians Are Busy "Girls"

Rev. Parks Honored
Rev. J. L. Parks, of Santa Ana, for the past six years pastor of the United Brethern church in that city, has been honored with the position of state superintendent of the denomination at the conference just closed in Selma, Calif. Rev. I. Haster, of Nogales, Ariz., will fill the vacancy made by Rev. Park's promotion. Rev. and Mrs. Parks will continue to reside in Santa Ana.

Stitchers Meet in Park
The Jelly Stitchers, the name of which implies pleasure and energy, met yesterday at invitation of Mrs. Ketler, of Buena Park, in the Fullerton City park for the first of the autumn moottings.
The busy fingers accomplished quite a little work, but remembering the salute, "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," Mrs. Ketler had planned a delicious light lunchcon consisting of apple pie a la mode and orange punch.
Three visitors were present, Mrs. Fdwards, Miss Fdwards, mother and sister of the hostess, and Miss E.J. awards, her niece. Members at the meeting were the Mendames Cocran, Cole and grandson, Loughborough and son, Couta, G. M. Shear, Mende Shear, Knott and daughter and the hostess.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Beckman, vice president and auditor of the Union National Bank, of Freemont, Neb., have arrived in Anaheim to visit relatives and friends. They will divide their time between Mr. and Mrs. Frank Toss of Anaheim and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Meyer of Buena Park.

LA HABRA
LA HABRA, Sept. 13.—Mr. J. H. Walker of La Habra Heights received word that his nephew, Delford English, is suffering from a broken leg which he received while employed for an oil company in India. He is also suffering from a severe attack of fever. He expects to return to America as soon as he is able to travel. He sailed for India in May.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Cammack and daughter returned last week from Honduras where they spent 14 years as missionaries for the Friends Church in East Whittier. Mr. Cammack was forced to return on the account of his health. They will make their home at Orange.
Rev. C. Hummell a former missionary from China spoke on the needs of China at the M. E. church Sunday morning.
A tragedy was perhaps averted Saturday evening when neighbors discovered a bright light and smoke pouring from the Francis Walker home on South College-ave, which proved to be a roast which had caught fire while the couple were away. Lucky the house was open and the flames which were five feet high were extinguished, before much damage was done.

Mrs. O. S. Parrot wire of Dr. Parrot of Vancouver was a business visitor at La Habra Monday.
Miss Ethel Bristow entertained at a dinner party at their home on Second-st Sunday evening. The affair was in honor of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bristow and brother Everett of Turlock who returned home Monday after a weeks visit here.
STAGE DRIVE FOR ATTENDANCE AT CLUB LUNCHEONS
IT WAS decided at the meeting of the Business and Professional Women's club today that an attendance drive would be effected in an effort to interest more members in getting out to meetings. Ten captains were appointed and each will have ten names on their lists. The captains will get in touch with each member to learn why she is not coming to the meetings. The teams will compete against each other and the losing ones will furnish the program.
Miss Irene Jacques was appointed to purchase a silver loving cup as a trophy for the coming baseball league games to be staged by the Y. M. C. A., which opens the first of October.
Miss Callie Sparks told of the swimming club party at Long Beach next Wednesday evening. All who intend to go are requested to notify Misses Callie Sparks, Irene Jacques, and Lucille Perry. The girls are planning an unusually good time.
There will be a directors meeting at the hospital Monday evening at 7 o'clock. All directors are requested to be present.

Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Anderson of Redlands spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Park. On Saturday evening they formed a theatre pary at Los Angeles, Sunday they enjoyed a picnic lunch at Santa Monica.
The La Habra school opened Tuesday morning with a large attendance, Mr. J. A. Baker is superinendent, over the three schools. Mrs. Joe Edwards was severely burned on the face and hands when the gas having escaped in the oven caused an explosion.
