INHERITS $100,000
MYSTERIOUSLY DEAD
NEW YORK, Aug. 28—Police today began a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of John Sutphen, member of a prominent South New Jersey family.
Sutphen inherited a fortune a wess ago, said to be more than $100,000.
An autopsy showed that cyanide of potassium caused the death. Sutphen was found dead on a couch in the drawing room. He had reached his apartment about an hour and a half before his body was found. The body was fully dressed except for the coat, and it was clutched in the right hand.
Authorities today learned that Sutphen had returned to his apartment in a taxicab or a private car and that he was assisted to his apartment by an elevator attendant.
