THOUSANDS AT WORK ON "THE WAYFARER" With thousands of feet of lumber now being formed into the world's largest stage, with more than 3000 of its total cast of 7000 rehearsing two nights each week and with the ticket selling at a rapid rate at the Philharmonic Auditorium. Box office, "The Wayfarer" is fast becoming a reality in the community life of Southern California. Thousands of people are now at work to make this pageant the greatest dramatic thunderbolt in the history of the American stage when it is presented at the new Los Angeles Coliseum in Exposition Park, September 8 to 15. A huge tent has been erected in the Coliseum to be used as a storage house for the seven carloads of scenery and electrical equipment which has just arrived for America's great passion play. The Coliseum arena resembles a movie lot as the theatrical equipment includes partly wrecked Belgian churches, Flanders villages, Roman temples, portions of the City of Jerusalem, palaces of Kings and many other interesting creations of great size. FREIGHTER ON ROCKS SEATTLE, Aug. 23.—The coast-wise freighter Selkirk of the Frank Waterhouse fleet, struck a rock on the east end of Hearst Island in a dense fog last night, and is a total loss, according to advises here today. Captain W. H. Gillen and crew of eight men took to the boats just as the vessel's stern sank in seven fathoms, leaving the bow high in the air. The men landed at Hardy Bay on the east coast of Vancouver Island, where they reported the wreck. The Selkirk was northbound with a cargo of cannery supplies. She is listed at 142 tons gross.
