NEW BOOK TELLS OF STANDARD ACTIVITY
Pointing out the fact that Anaheim's Standard Oil service stations employ 32 men and declaring that 1,000 men all told of the company living here are working in the three neighboring oil fields, the company estimates that 15 per cent of Anaheim's population is supported by R.
The concern has issued an interesting little booklet on "Standard Oil Spirit" in which President K. R. Kingbury says:
"The company believes in reasonable hours of work, vacations, fair compensation, and in good working conditions, pensions, accident and sick benefits. Our employees have been enabled to invest in company stock. All of these things are apparent expenses. In reality they are not, for there is a very definite return."
The company does not know what a strike is.
The authorized capital stock of the Standard Oil Co. of California is $250,000,000 and it has more than 16,000 stockholders. Besides producing oil in California it is seeking production at present in Montana, Texas, the Philippines, Alaska, Columbia, Ecuador and Argentina. In 1907 it produced 796,796 barrels of oil. Prior to then principally all crude oil was obtained by purchase. The year 1921 was a record with $6,696,916 barrels.
The company owns and operates 1056 miles of main pipe lines with a capacity of 157,000 barrels daily and 375 miles of gathering lines. These lines all are in California. A fleet of 18 tankships, with a capacity of 1,121,000 barrels and a gross tonnage of 105,737; ten barges with a capacity of 30,050 barrels and a gross tonnage of 3,445; five launches, one tug, one Diesel electric tankship with new today

FARM BUREAU FILM VERY HIGH CLASS
The free motion picture entertainment this evening in the auditorium of the high school by the farm bureau is said to be of very high class.
The programme will consist to some twelve reels of comedy, statewide news items, travel and an excellent Paramount feature entitled "Too Much Speed" in which the disastrous results of the prevailing mania by auto drivers is shown.
In bringing out this interesting story the worlds championship races at Beverly Hills are shown in which Wallace Reid as "Dusty Rhodes" makes a spectacular finish at the tune of 105 miles per hour.
The original car "No 4", that won this remarkable worlds championship
Prior to then principally all crude oil was obtained by purchase. The year 1921 was a record with 36,696,916 barrels.
The company owns and operates 1056 miles of main pipe lines with a capacity of 157,000 barrels daily and 375 miles of gathering lines. These lines all are in California. A fleet of 18 tankships, with a capacity of 1,121,00 barrels and a gross tonnage of 105,737; ten barges with a capacity of 30,050 barrels and a gross tonnage of 3,445; five launches, one tug, one Diesel electric tankship with a capacity of 12,400 barrels and 1271 tons and a machine shop barge are owned and operated by the company. It leases about 1500 tank-cars for rail transportation, 1547 trucks, 1295 passenger cars, 52 tractors and 56 trailers. It has refineries at Richmond on San Francisco Bay, at El Segundo near Los Angeles and Bakerfield in the San Joaquin Valley, and the combined capacity of the three is 160,000 barrels of crude oil per day. More than 400 products are manufactured, from a medicinal oil to sephalt for paving.

NEW RESERVATION
NEARLY COMPLETED
SAN FRANCISCO, July 9.—Work carried on by Engineer, Infantry and Quartermaster troops at Gigling reservation has progressed to the point that it is now possible for an entire division to be accommodated at this field, according to announcement today at Ninth Army Corps Area. The troops have been engaged in the work at the reservation for some time past under the direction of Colonel E. M. Jenkins, commandant, Presidio of Monterey, Cal.
The development of an adequate water supply has been the biggest feature of the work so far accomplished. Ather improvements of a permanent or semi-permanent nature have also been made, which include the construction of a target range, the building of mess halls, kitchens, etc.
The first encampment of an entire division to be held on the reservation will be that of the National Guard, beginning July 10.
The new tanks will cut down trees. And just to think that the poor Germans had to use axes to cut down fruit trees in France.
