Thursday, July 5, 1923 MILLION IS GIVEN TO CRIPPLED TOTS BY EX-BLACKSMITH William Henry Eustis. William Henry Eustis, eighty-four, ex-blacksmith, ex-mayor and real estate baron of Minneapolis, has donated $1,000,000 and forty-four acres of prairie land for a hospital and convalescent home for crippled children. Eustis, crippled, says he is giving the money for that purpose because he "went through life that way when proper facilities at the right time would have saved him." Ruick of Anaheim; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lightfoot of Fullerton, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Hall of Bell. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Robeson and children, Virginia and Lawrence, Jr., visited with relatives at their summer home at Palmer Canyon. Miss Billie Follis visited with Miss Georgia Watkins at Fullerton on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Girvin and son Charles returned home on Sunday evening after spending several days at Strawberry Flats. Mrs. Briggs of San Diego is a guest at the Elmer Follis home. Mr. D. B. Brown returned on Sunday evening from Modjeska’s Home, where he spent the week-end on a camping trip. Mrs. Brown and her guests will remain there until after July 4. Albert Moon and Otto Brown went swimming in the El Dorado plunge at Fullerton on Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Dano were guests over the week-end of Mrs. Dano’s mother, Mrs. M. B. Shaw, at San Bernardino. Wayne Osborne was in a collision with his Star car and a Ford car owned by Lewis Davis of Whittier. Both cars were reported as damaged. Murph Osborne and family have sent cards announcing their safe arrival in Arkansas. They made the trip in eleven days. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Hunt and son Bruce are spending a vacation at La Jolla. Monnes reports the sale of two lots in the new subdivision to Jack Golden, also two lots to Dr. Julian P. Johnson. Dr. Johnson intends to erect an up to date sanitarium on his lots. The building will be in the form of a bungalow court and will have all the modern improvements necessary to make a first class hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tilton and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt motored to Sunland on Monday evening, where they were guests of Mr. Tilton's brother, Hawthorne Tilton at aweenie bake and swimming in the river. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horn and children are spending their vacation at Lodi at the home of Mrs. Horn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Thurman. Mr. and Mrs. Moss of Yuma, Ariz., are staying at the Horn home during their absence and will try and locate here. Mrs. Moss is a sister of Mrs. Thurman. Mr. and Mrs. M. S.
