STOCKS CLOSE WEAK
NEW YORK, June 29.—The stock market closed weak, persistent pressure against the railroads having an unsettling influence on the rest of the list.
Loss ranged all the way up to five points.
The selling of the rails indicated liquidation of large holdings. New York Central dropped nearly 3 points to 80%. Steel common fell over one point to 90%. Industrial alcohol fell to 40, then rose to 41. Baldwin fell over two points to 118%.
Government bonds unchanged; railway and other bonds steady.
Stock sales today 778,300 shares; bonds $10,010,000.
GRAIN SLUMPS
CHICAGO, June 29.—Grain prices suffered another severe slump today $1.90 to $1.00 per lug.

Provisions were slightly lower.

William French, justice of the peace, and wife and brother-in-law,
C. C. Shelly, are planning to leave tomorrow for about a week at San Juan Capistrano Hot Springs.
H. Kelberg of Orange underwent an operation today at the Fullerton hospital.
The five-months-old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Morales of Richfield died this morning of stomach trouble after a short illness. Burial was in Yorba cemetery this afternoon, J. E. Seale, funeral director.
Mrs. Baxter, sister of Miss Lucy Arey of the First National Bank of Fullerton, who is sick at Glendale, will be brot to Fullerton tomorrow in a McAulay ambulance, it is announced.

EXPLAINS REFUSAL TO GIVE CLEMENCY

BACKAMENTO, June 29—Declaring that "society must be protected from such acts of lawlessness." Governor Richardson is a statement today explained his refusal to exercise executive clemency in the case of Mauro Parisi, scheduled to die on the gallows at San Quentin today.
The governor reviewed the circumstances of the crime. Parisi having shot and beaten to death Felix Paladino, Fresno workman, adding:
"The murderer by his crime made one widow and left four small children without a father's support."
"Society must be protected from such acts of lawlessness. Widows and children who are always the chief sufferers from crime must be safeguarded. The execution of Parisi will be a warning to men of his type that they cannot run amuck in California, murdering peaceable citizens and wounding bystanders in crowded streets without paying the penalty imposed by law."
Fifty-eight Years Wed
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Markle celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary yesterday in a quiet way. Many of their friends called during the afternoon, and they were recipients of a lovely big bouquet of flowers, a gift from the Fullerton Daughters of Veterans. Mrs. Richman, of the Fullerton Flower Shop also sent them a colorful bouquet.
Mr.'Markle was mustered out of service and returned home June 19 and again was mustered in on June 28. The first time was for three years, during the civil war, the last time was for life and he is still under orders.
Mr. and Mrs. Markle have the hearty congratulations of the entire community where they are so well and so affectionately known.
