GERMANS TO CUT COST OF BURIALS
By Karl B. Eilah.
BERLIN, June 29. — Scientific management is going to reduce the high cost of being buried in Berlin.
By scraping the present bulky coffin, with its high peak large enough to accommodate another small body, and the substituting therefor a compact, efficient coffin, such as Americans are familiar with, the city authorities charged with the task of providing expensive funerals for the city's working people, believe they will be able to effect economies that will set "a decent funeral within reach of all."
Another prospective economy is the abolition of the rule that each corpse is entitled to a hearse by itself. Henceforth four coffins will be carried on one hearse. All in all, large savings are expected in the matter of labor and materials, as the smaller coffins will permit of shallower graves and will require less wood while transportation charges will be cut 75 per cent.

The Sprinkles have operated the local water works since it was started twenty-three years ago. Now they claim that they can no longer live up to their moist cognomen, as they are not making money. They have stiffened the Indiana Public Service Commission for authority to abandon the plant.
