NEEDED THE MONEY; BURGLES REGISTER
The cash register at the Fullerton ice plant just off So. Spadra-rd. south of the Santa Fe tracks, was burglarized early this morning by a man giving his name is Irving Knoth.
The burglary was discovered before the man could escape and he was arrested by Officers Annin and Yates. He had taken $10.50, which he returned. He was arraigned before Judge French on the charge of petit larceny, and sentenced to 60 days in the county jail.
He said he was broke and needed the money.
BOLLEN ADDRESSES KIWANIS ON FLAG
The meeting of the Fullerton Kiwanis Club at noon today was largely attended. The speaker was Rev. M. E. Bollen of the First Baptist Church of Fullerton who spoke on "Our Falg."
D.Jesserun of Anaheim presented the Fullerton Kiwanians with a cup sent out from Los Angeles to all the clubs. Fullerton in turn plants to present the cup to La Habra, and eventually it returns to Los Angeles.
Lew McKelvy won the attendance prize.
RUSH TO DEFENSE OF STRANGE WOMAN
A Mexican named Ybarra, living 312 W. Santa Ana-st., and another Mexican became involved in a fist fight last night. Ybarra getting badly "bunged up." The fight is said to have been due to chivalry, each getting it into his head the other was trying to abuse a strange woman, and each rushing vigorously to her defense.
FINDS $15,000 GOLD
SAN FRANCISCO, June 12.—The Burns Detective Agency received a cable of congratulations today on the alertness of Walter Cunningham, operative, honeymooning in Honolulu.
Seated with his bride on the Waikiki beach, Cunningham dug up a bag of gold containing $15,000. It was identified as belonging to a local bank and according to advice to the Baseball Today AMERICAN LEAGUE

GIRL SHOOTS SELF
SAN FRANCISCO, June 12.—After being questioned at the bedside of Miss Marie Sims, 19-year-old nurse, who early today phoned police she had been shot by an unidentified man, Tom Zeris, her fiance, was released by police.
Miss Sims admitted, the police said, that she had accidentally shot herself.

6 DIE IN CRASH
GRAYLING, Mich., June 12.—Six persons, including an engineer, firemen and brakeman, were killed today when an engine was sideswiped by a Michigan Central freight train while the engine was attempting to enter a side track known as a puzzle switch.
The other three are as yet unidentified.

LOS ANGELES, June 12.—Herbert Wilson, former evangelist and mall robber, was today on his way to San Quentin to begin life sentence for the murder of Herbert Cox, his pal, who Wilson was said to have shot during an attempt to break jail.

TEN-ACRE GROVE
A deal has just been closed by the W. L. Morris Realty Co., whereby a ten-acre orange grove on Garden Grove-rd. about a quarter of a mile south of Broadway, was sold for $52,500, more than $5000 an acre.
The realty was owned by O. D. Lucz who had improved the grove, which now has a fine crop on it, with an eight-room residence.
It was purchased by George E. Meade of 222 N. Palm-st., who plants to move there.
HARDING POSTPONES
PROHI CONFERENCE
WASHINGTON, June 12.—President Harding's conference with governors to discuss plans for enforcement of the national prohibition act will be postponed until after the president returns from Alaska, it was announced officially this afternoon.

RECKLINGHAUSEN, Germany, June 12.—A German was killed here early today by French troops. French sentries have orders to shoot to kill all persons who vilate the curfew regulations prohibiting appearance on the streets after 9 p.m.
EXPLOSION KILLS 2
WORTHAM, Tex., June 12.—A boiler explosion today on a Gulf Petroleum Co. lease killed Robert Davis and Ernest Leverett and seriously injured a third man.
The blast catapulted the bodies several hundred feet, witnesses said. The injured man remained unidentified.

RECEIVES SAD NEWS
N. F. Ballou received the sad news of the death of his favorite niece, eight-year-old Ruth Blevins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Blevins, of the old home in North Carolina, which followed a short illness. The little girl had flu about one year ago and a week or more ago developed an ear trouble which resulted in spinal menengitis.
The mother, who is a sister of Mr. Ballou, is prostrated over the child's death, following as it does the loss of a son sometime ago. Last week Mr. Ballou received word of the death of a favorite aunt in Indiana, whom he had planned to visit this summer.
TWO TRUNKS TAKEN FROM TURNER HOME
The residence of Charles L. Turner, 915 East aShta Ana-st, was burglarized last night sometime after 10 o'clock, thieves escaping with two trunks filled with articles valued at about $150.
The trunks were on the back porch which was open. Mrs. Turner had been planning to move the trunks in the house, but had kept putting it off, never thinking of a burglary.
The trunks contained wedding, Christmas and birthday presents, principally linens, towels and similar flied.

The residence of Charles L. Turner,

The trunks contained wedding, Christmas and birthday presents, principally linens, towels and similar articles. Both the trunks were marked on the ends in large black letters, "C. L. T."
The larger one was found this morning by M. L. Andrade, patrolman, at the corner of Santa Ana and East-eta minus the valuables.
Mrs. Turner said they retired after 10 o'clock and the burglary occurred after that.
