MATRON TO-BE IS HONORED WITH LARGE PARTY A VERY smart affair occurred Saturday afternoon at the O. H. Renner home on N. Olive-at wehn Mrs. Kenner and Mrs. Wm. T. Wallop entertained in honor of Miss Alice Robinson, one of the reason's popular brides-elect. The marriage of Miss Robinson to Mr. Thomas Scott of Santa Ana will be an event of the future. A luncheon was served at 1:30 and an attractive scheme was carried out in pink and white, carnations and Dorothy Perkins roses being used. The hostesses passed around in tenets where were hewn by the guests. Miss Robinson was presented with a large basket of miscellaneous gifts for use in her future home. Enjoying the lovely affair together were honoree, Miss Alice Robinson, hostesses, Mesdames Wallop and Renner, Mesdames J. M. Stone, Lillian Lawrence, Charles Murphy, M. Root, N. Balloor, all at Los Angeles, D. Rea, San Diego, C. E. Holcomb, Chino, Angus McAulay, Fullerton, F. A. Yungbluth, F. H. Houck, Alice Booth, M. Rea, E. Seale, H. A. Johnston, G. W. Sangilands, B. Morley, J. M. Casey, Ralph Mans, F. N. Gibbs, George Chambers, R. C. Mills, L. A. Evans, John Selinger, O. A. Mullinix, all of Anaheim; the Misses Dora Zeyn, China; Lilliam Rivers, Fullerton; Jean Davis, Santa Ana; Wanda J. C. Baccalaureate Address Dr. Thomas Newlin, instructor in social service in Fullerton Junior college, delivered the baccalaureate address to the class of '23 last evening. His topic was "The Power of the World's Vision in World's Service." Many Anaheim friends and relatives of the graduates attended the services. Anaheim members of the class, which totals 23 members, include the Misses Doris Eells, Clara Gordon, Jessie Cocns, Marjorie Utter, Alice Wright, Donald Smith and Wilbert Bonney. Graduation exercises will occur Friday, June 15. Fine Ranch Dinner Lonis Hening entertained a number of friends at an enjoyable dinner on his orange ranch. E. North-st yesterday. Coverers were laid for 12, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Plegel, Mr. and Mrs. William Trapp, Mr. and Mrs. Kratzer, Mrs. Worthington of Long Beach, Judge and Mrs. Westbrook of Seattle and Dr. and Mrs. Stewart of Hamburg. The attractive home was decorated in a profusion of flowers. The afternoon hours were pleasantly passed with games of Tennis, cards and music and an enjoyable time by all. Pupils in Recital The Primary and Intermediate music pupils under instruction of Mrs. Ruth Selitz, appeared in recital Saturday afternoon in the Elks club. A varied piano program was interspired with solos by Mrs. Walter Ross, among the most charming ones being a group of children's songs. A large number of parents and friends were present to enjoy the efforts of the children. Several of the young performers were ill and could not play, but are included in the list of members including Margaret Fassel, Genevieve and Robert Dickenson, Winona Benson, Zerena Baum, Bernlee, Mildred and Beulah Murray, Lucille Hatfield, Ruby White, Avia and Elizabeth Freeman, Martha Wallingford, Thelma Sanchez, Lucile and Leda Brawley, Elsa Bieger, Margaret Boisserenance, Dale and Jack Hensley, Elgin Ward, Blenda Probst, Mary Alice White, Beatrice and Robert Ambrady, Catherine Adams, Jessie Johastone, Virginia Stroup and Marion Utter. Children's Day Programs Children's Day was observed in the Presbyterian Baptist Christian and Methodist churches yesterday. The usual programs of music and appropriate readings were given by the little ones in their wonderfully sincere and innocent manner, assisted by music by the older ones. Make Farewell Visit Mr. and Mrs. Wm., Abplanalp and daughter Miss Lucy and son Wilton were in Santa Ana yesterday afternoon and evening, making a farewell visit with Mr. August Michael who leaves Thursday for a summer in Switzerland. Mr. Michael who is the brother-in-law of Mr. Abplanalp will sail on the George Washington June 23, and will be accompanied by a young man from Compton who will visit his relatives in Germany. Arrives Safely Word received from Mrs. Adda King of Anaheim tells of her comfortable journey and safe arrival in Jerome, Idaho where she has gone for the summer months. Mrs. King joined her son there and will pass the time on the ranches which they sold before coming to California, but which they were obliged to again take over. Initiate Big Class Big doin' are expected at the K. of C. hall on E. Center-at Wednesday evening when about 75 young ladies will be initiated into the Y. L. I., bringing the membership to more than 100. This organization is planning a dance and entertainment at the Elks club Wednesday June 19, to which the public is invited. Tickets may be secure by any of the girls or at the dance that evening. Philathea Class Tonight The Philathea class of the Presbyterian Sunday school will hold a social meeting this evening at the home of Mrs. Blanche Morley, 315 North Emily-st. H. G. Schmelzer the official minister. The ceremony was performed in the presence of relatives of the principals and intimate friends. The wedding party took their places in the dining room which was especially arranged for the pretty affair. Little Miss Laura Schroeder in a dainty orchid organdy was flower girl and scattered rose petals in the path of the bride. The attractive bride was lovely in her gown of white charmeuse satin, with lace overdrapes. Her veil was dress length and a pretty headpiece was set with pearls. She carried white sweetpeas. Miss Amanda Frahm attended the bride and wore a buff and white outfit. She carried pink sweetpeas. Frank Groover, brother of the groom was best man. Mrs. H. G. Schmelzer played the appropriate Lohengrin wedding March. At 6:30 a delicious chicken dinner was served from a table pretily laid in pink and white. After dinner, the bride donned a smart suit of blue and white with hat and pumpie to match. The couple left by motor for a trip of several weeks. They will reside at the Schroeder home on Lincoln-ave, for several months then going to Santa Ana where they will make their home. Mrs. Groover has resided in the Anaheim vicinity for a long time and attended the grammar and high schools here. Pretty Church Wedding Miss Dorothy Brown, popular Fullerton grammar school teacher, and Blyton Korner, prominent Orange-thorpe rancher, were married at high noon yesterday at the First Christian church in Fullerton, by Rev. W. L. Thornton, pastor. Miss Brown was the soloist of the church choir and the ceremony took place immediately after services. The house was jammed. Mrs. Ruth Howerton of Placentia sang, "Beloved, It is Morn", and then the bride and groom marched up the allele, unattended, to the music of the Wedding March, played by David L. Wright. The church was beautifully decorated in appropriate colors. The bride wore a pale orchid gown, with a hat to match. Following the ceremony, the bride and groom went to the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Alice Brown, for a reception. They expect to spend a short honeymoon in the mountains, and eventually make their home now being prepared adjoining the ranch on Oranggetherpe. In the meantime they plan to live with the bride's mother. Elope to Los Angeles Arthur Saltman and Sophia Crystal of Fullerton, eloped to Los Angeles yesterday. Friends had suspected something of the kind and followed, arriving in time to witness the ceremony. The bride is the sister of Mrs. Jack Gantz of Fullerton. They expect to spend a short honeymoon, after which they plan to make their home at the California hotel. Resigns To Wed Miss Maile Seichacht was resigning her position with the Anaheim Auto Co. Source—One and one-half cups cooked tomatoes, one-half tea spoon salt, slice of green or red pepper chopped fine. Mix together meat crumbs, salt, paprika and parsley. Balls will hold together better if the crumbs are moistened and wrinkled. Shape into about eight balls rolling portion of the mixture in the hands. Roll balls in flour, brown in hot fat and place in a covered case role. Add tomatoes, second portion of salt and the pepper chopped fine Have casserole deep enough so that the tomatoes will not boil over. Bake one to one and a half hours in moderate oven. Serve on plater with caffeine poured over and potatoes or cooked spaghetti or macaroni around it. Euchre Club Thursday The Euchre club will hold the meeting Thursday afternoon with Mrs. E. E. Lybarger, 205 East Broadway. A pleasant afternoon is planned. Class Receives Charter The Philathea class of the Presbyterian Sunday school is very happy today in possession of the charter presented yesterday during the morning service hour. The class has been organized about nine months and is taught by Mrs. H. A. Johnston. Rev. T. H. Walker made presentation of the valued parchment and Miss Ruth Crawford and Miss Ruth White both gave words of acceptance and appreciation. Miss White also outlined the aims and activities of class work. Another Big Moose Night Deputy Supervisor J. F. McCracken, in charge of the membership drive of the local Loyal Order of Moose, announces that a class of 40 candidates will be initiated tomorrow night. This class the largest will bring the local membership to 250. Officers will be present from San Pedro, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and several other lodges. An added feature of this meeting will be the fact that some member will be given a $45.00 Elgin watch by J. A. Stinson a member of the order. Refreshments will be served. Pupils In Recital Mrs. Luna Wellman Quarton will present her pupils in recital at the Guild Hall tomorrow evening at 7:30. Dr. Mabel Roe, will give a number of soprano solos. City Briefs William Melhron left Saturday for Montana, where he will spend several months. In Los Angeles he joined a Mr. Nelson and the two will drive thru. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reckner and son Alvin went to San Bernardino yesterday where they were guests at a wedding of a friend. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Ruick went to Azusa where they will be guests of friends over the week-end. Yesterday afternoon they saw the bill at the Orpheum. Miss Nannie Gambill, of San Diego, is the guests for several days of Mrs. N. F. Ballou and family, of West Center St. Miss Isabel Crawford, missionary among the Indians under the direction of Baptist churches, was the overnight guest of Mrs. W. E. Bartlett and accompanied her hostess to Huntington Beach today where the county meeting of Baptist women is held. BEMIS BURIAL TODAY Funeral services for Benjamin Benils of Yorba Linda were held this morning from the McAulay funeral parlor, Rev. Marsh of Yorba Linda officiating. There was a large crowd present and many floral offerings. Interment was in the Mt. Olive cemetery, Whittier, Anaheim Elks officiating at the grave.
