FEEDY HUMOR FOR NEW KEATON FARCE
Fast moving farcical humor flashes all through "Neighbors" the fourth of the Buster Keaton comedies which comes to the United Theater, commencing tomorrow.
In this howling two reels of merriement, the slender, young funnaker whose serious countenance never loses its sombre look, is given many opportunities to arouse amusement by the ridiculous situations which pack "Neighbors." There is a wealth of lurious action with the slapstick not hindered by an excess of subtlety.
As the successor of Fatty Arbuckle in the field of rough and ready comedy, Buster Keaton proves that he is thoroughly capable of handling the slapstick of screen comics with just as great effectiveness as his rotund predecessor.
In this latest of his laughtivities, Buster conters his career of jovial trouble about the rough and tumble belligerence of two families whose adjoining backyards form a sort of no man's land of constant irritation. In his efforts to win the girl of his love both families have an active and aggressive time with Buster put to many acrobatic absurdities before the wedding day arrives. But just when everything seems about to be settled happily, the family fraas flares forth gaily and the lovers find that trying to get married is just as exciting as trying to live peacefully with peace-hating neighbors.
On the same program will be the "Lions Den" caturing Bert Lytell and Alice Lake and International News.

Buena Park News
BUENA PARK, June 7.—A pretty affair in the form of a double shower in honor of Miss Hester Jaynes and Miss Gertrude Nelson was held at the Masonic Temple by the Eastern Star on Monday evening. Many beautiful and useful gifts of pyrex, linen, enil glass and aluminum were received by the young ladies. Before the evening was over it was discovered that Miss Nelson was already married having been Mrs. Charles Chandler since April 17th. Every one was much surprised and extended their congratulations to the happy couple. Miss Jaynes will be the bride of Leland Weaver of Los Angeles in July. After the gifts had been inspected and admired the guests enjoyed the dainty refreshments of ice cream and cake in the shape of hearts.
Mrs. Lawrence Tilton was a Los Angeles shopper on Tuesday.
Mrs. Andrew Bassel spent Saturday at Catalina in comping with friends from Orange.
Miss Haida Janke entertained with a surprise birthday party in honor of Mrs. John Johnson on Monday afternoon. Many dainty remembrances were presented to Mrs. Johnson.
The table was graced with a beautiful center piece of pink and white gladiolas. Ice cream, cake and chocolate was served to the guests who were Mrs. Johnson and daughter Miss Moldred Johnson, Misses Bertha, Mamie and Bell Sharp, Mrs. E. E. Thurman, Mrs. Charles W. Girvin and son Charles, Mrs. Myrtle Leslie and daughter Margaret and Mrs. Charles Owens.
Mr. Charles W. Girvin spent Tuesday at Signal Hill.
Mrs. N. D. McDowell and Mrs. R. N. Cummins attended a meeting of the executive board of the Federated Clubs held at Costa Mesa on Monday.
Mrs. Herbert Bixby entertained Misses Anna Fisk, Martha Patterson and Nila Paulkner at breakfast on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bassell entertained on Tuesday evening with a farewell dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Board and son Lex who are leaving for their home at Plemons, Texas, after spending the winter here. Beside the guests of hon-
