VALLECINTO OPENS ANOTHER NEW UNIT This week marks the opening of new unit at Vallecinto, now community now being created on the Redondo-Riverside Boulevard, a mile east of Compton, according to an announcement yesterday by Del Pork & Ryerson, Long Beach realtors and selling agents. The first unit, comprising close to 100 acres, sold out in record time. Huge crowds have been drawn to the big track daily since it was opened. Because of the increasing oil, industrial and home development in the vicinity, the selling agents anticipate that the second unit will be closed out promptly. Vallecinto is very fortunately situated. It is in the heart of the valley between the mountains and the sea. The soil, it is said, is so rich that virtually anything can be grown in it. The new community has a frontage of more than a mile on the Redondo-Riverside boulevard. A mile to the west is the Long Beach boulevard, and to the east in the Downey boulevard. Midway between Los Angeles on the north and Long Beach on the south, it is only a mile from fast-growing compton on the west and only a short distance Clearwater on the east. The Santa Fe Springs oil field is not far away, and the derricks on Signal Hill are plainly discernible from the tract. U. P. HAS LONGEST U. S. DOUBLE TRACK OMAHA, May 29. "FOUR HORSEMEN" AT UNITED THEATER Rex Ingram's $1,000,000 production of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," made for Metro, is announced by the United Theatre beginning Sunday. At its New York opening people paid $10 a seat. Critics said the picture had definitely established the screen not only as capable of rivalling the stage at its best, but of surpassing it in its grip upon the emotions. "The Four Horsemen" is the supreme expression of the Great War. Certainly no novel has stirred the universal appeal created by the ibanez masterpiece. The book, now in its one hundred and sixty-sixth edition, has been read throughout the world. The monumental task of transferring it to the screen was accomplished by June Mathis, who made a scenario that from all accounts has preserved the force of the original and in many incidents heightened it. But it is the director, Rex Ingram, who apparently achieved the most sensational success. He is reported to have set a new mark in artistry of picturization. THE cast includes Rudolph Valen U. P. HAS LONGEST U. S. DOUBLE TRACK OMAHA, May 29. Foriy-two million dollars will be spent by the Union Pacific this year for new equipment and improvements, according to C. R. Gray, president of the Union Pacific System, in addition to the regular routine expenses for maintenance. The improvements will be financed from new capital and not from earnings, Mr. Gray says. The additional double-tracking will give the Union Pacific virtually a two-track line all the way from Omaha to Ogden and Salt Lake City, and considered in connection with the double-track from Chicago to Salt Lake City, 1515 miles, the longest stretch of double-track in the United States over which solid through trains are run. When the 57 all-steel passenger cars, covered by the 1923 program, are received, this will provide all-steel equipment for all main line through passenger trains. Seventy-eight freight locomotives, and nearly 5000 freight cars have been ordered for delivery in time for the next harvest, in addition to 8,636 new refrigerator cars of the Pacific Fruit Express, a company owned jointly by the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific.
