MAY SUCCUMB FROM ATTACK BY HAMMER (By International News Service) LOS ANGELES, May 16.—Declarated to have struck his co-worker with a hammer during a bitter argument, Warner Potter, 27, a carpenter, was held at the Hollywood police station today facing a probable charge of murder, while A. A. Beaton, his alleged victim was in a dying condition at the receiving hospital. Potter, according to witnesses, struck Beaton with his hammer during an argument at a Cole ave., address where the two men were working. No cause for the controversy could be learned. Both men were armed with hammers, the police learned. PROVOCATION I am a very peaceful man. I never was a hero. I'll waddle quite a lot of miles to get out of a fight. PAINTER To include Inez C. Painter as one of the defendants, William and Etta Duncan have filed suit for $18,.000 actual damages and $15,000 exemplary damages against Inez C. Painter and Archie V. Herr, Santa Ana real estate dealer, in connection with the trading of the old Hilliard ranch of 9.37 acres for 120 acres in Minnesota of the Duncans. The Minnesota ranch was proven to be mostly pond, and the Duncans were awarded heavy damages against Painter himself. The Painters are now at Long Beach and out on ball. FILE APPEAL FROM COURT'S DECISION (By International News Service) WASHINGTON, May 15.—The government's appeal from the decision of the New York District court in its suit to enjoin the New York Sugar and Coffee Exchange from dealing in sugar futures will be filed tomorrow in the United States Supreme Court.
