TRUE LOVE MARRIAGE OF BRITISH PRINCE
Great Britain once more has witnessed a beautiful love match consummated in which a member of the royal family is a figure. Prince Albert, Duke of York, a wholesome, manly young son of the royal house, led to the altar Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, a sweet, sensible, loveable Scotch lassie. It is a love match, just as was that of Princess Mary and Viscount Lacey. These matrimonial linkings of royalty with the commons gratify the British people and draw commons and crown more closely together.
King George and Queen Mary have a family of unusual excellence as compared with the royal houses of Europe. There has been no scandal there. The offspring of the royal family are trained into simplicity and unostentatiousness. There is nowhere a more democratic, less snobish person than the Prince of Wales. All of the members of the royal family have been trained to usefulness, and many noble acts of charity, philanthropy and gracious helpfulness come from them.

A LITTLE TALK THRIFT
By S. W. STRAUS, President America for Thrift
Not doing things well is no better doing them at all.
To perform one’s tasks thoroughly good exemplification of thrift because through this thoroughness of perform progress is made.
There is an old proverb to the eagle "the fellow with one idea generally goes while he who calls him a fool dies pearl matter what a man’s occupation may excels in his work, you will find his moving upward. He may only be able thing, but if he can do it thoroughly cessfully, circumstances will drive him important duties.
A great many young men fall to the world simply because of superficial complishment, which is but another thriflessness in time and opportunity.
The problems of life are so large and the range of human endeavor is that individual effort to be effective limited to definite lines.
The young man of today has a limit of opportunity before him and he can the scheme of progress successfully imitate that there is always need for those do things well.
Our schools and colleges will soon bring their young men and young women to the world. They have completed their emic lessons, but they still have been those lessons which can be learned on practical school of life. In entering life perhaps the one lesson they shall first of all is that it is better to know well than to know a score of things tally, and that it is better to be able thing right than to have twenty all complishments.
G. HAROLD POWELL IS MEMORIALIZED
Southern California is proud to claim G. Harold Powell as its own. His labors here in private enterprise were remarkably successful. His patriotic services during the World War were notable and deserving of the memorial that has been set up to him in the Department of Agriculture at Washington. As an aid to the food Administration Mr. Powell was a valuable factor in tiding the American people over the critical days when the issues of the World War were being decided.
Mr. Powell was an excellent citizen. He exemplified the public-spirited virtues which make citizenship useful, dignified, serviceable. In peace he achieved remarkable things in development of the fruit industry in Southern California and in working out marketing conditions which have made the industry successful and a source of great gain to this section. His memory should be cherished here and throughout the land.
