MARKETS TODAY'S QUOTATIONS BY International News Service STOCKS CLOSE WEAK NEW YORK, April 30.—The stock market closed weak today. Selling broke out in the last hour in heavy volume, carrying prices down from 1 to 4 points. U. S. Steel yielded over 1 point to 102½, a new low for the year. Balwin declined 2 points to 134½. Gulf States Steel 4 points to 61. Studebaker about 2 points to 210. Government bonds unchanged; railway and other bonds irregular. Stock sales today totalled 1,147,200 shares. Bonds $9,953,000. GRAIN CLOSES HIGHER CHICAGO, April 30.—With the exception of oats, which developed weakness, all grain prices closed higher today. The opening was nervous. Bullish news from Washington helped in the general advance. Bulls saw a hint that the government would attempt to prevent undue depression of prices by liquidation. Wheat closed ½ to 1¾ higher, corn finished ½ to 1¾ up. Oats closed ½ off to unchanged. Provisions showed small losses. BANK CLEARINGS San Francisco, $25,700,000. Seattle, $6,020,520. Thurber at his ranch at Fall brook. A. S. Redfern, assistant principal of the Fullerton high school, is in Los Angeles today attending a conference on part time education. Dr. Leonard of the University of California, head of the College relations committee spent Friday forenoin Fullerton conferring with L. E. Plummer and Wm. T. Boyce on the J. C. situation. He complimented the showing of the Junior College. William Ellis with family, of Redondo Beach, spent the week-end with his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Ellis of Fullerton. The party, with Mr. and Mrs. Lee C. Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Yates, and Mrs. H. D. Thurber went to Orange County Park. B. H. Biggs, cashier of the First National Bank of Fullerton, attended the meeting of the Bankers Assn. at Santa Ana Saturday.
