How strange and beautiful it is to know that not only the great deeds that come to us to perform, perchance but once or twice in life, are noted There; but the least action, if done because of love of Christ, finds a place in the record of cups of cold water given in His name—Rose Porter.
The extreme penalty should be provided in the statutes of California to protect children against kidnapping.
Population of the United States is increasing steadily, and yet not phenomenally. It is the growth that is substantial and permanent.
Authority for Congress to abolish child labor and to establish a minimum wage for women and girls should be had through amendments to the United States constitution.
All laws should be obeyed. Violators of any law or laws should be punished. There should be no partiality as to laws—all should be enforced rigidly and without fear or favor.
They should not pester President Harding about intimated political significance of his proposed trip to the West and to Alaska. He should be treated with common courtesy and consideration in this.
Why not leave 1924 politics for 1924? Why anticipate? Why put the country into commotion? There is no good and sufficient reason why these things should be.
Any mode of life which, by excesses and dissipation and irregular habits shatters the health, is unwholesome and to be depreciated. Life and health are sacred trusts, and should be protected by careful, proper habits.

Proposal that seven Justices of the United
States Supreme Court, rather than a mere majority, should be required to agree in all cases
involving the constitutionally of a federal enactment, has much to commend it. Legislation by
Congress should not be overthrown lightly and
indiscriminately.
Stock swindling should be discouraged in
every way possible. Palapable frauds or dubious stocks should not be advertised in the
newspaper press of the country. Conscientious
publishers feel that they should avoid being a
party to fraudulent transactions, and therefore
they refuse to accept advertising of stocks unworthy of public confidence.
It is hardly reasonable to consider the substituting of the three-fourths verdict for the
unanimous agreement of trial juries in criminal
cases as being a dangerously radical departure.
Quite the contrary. It is a prudently conservative
method of forestalling radical assaults upon
the American system of legal procedure. This
proposed change, if instituted in California, it
is confidentially believed would foster the cause
of justice and bring the administering of criminal law into greater respect.
FOOLISH HAZARDS ARE PROHIBITED
Scaling of skyscrapers walls by human files
is prohibited by action of New York's Board of
Aldermen. This action should have come long
ago. Recently Harry Young fell while climbing up the outside of a New York hotel. He was hooded and mangled, of course.
