PHOTOGRAPHED HUMAN VOICE
PROVES BAFFLING TO IT HEARERS
Chas. A. Hoxie of the General Electric Co., has introduced a new device known as the Pallophotophone, which photographs sound on a motion picture film, the voice or sound actuating a diaphragm. This turn causes a corresponding vibration of a tiny mirror fastened firmly upon a steel shaft between two sets of jewels. The Diaphragm, shaft and mirror together is but one twelfth the weight of an ordinary pin. The voice vibrations are thus recorded in a series of up and down markings of varying frequency and amplified. After the film has been developed and dried, it can be made so as to reproduce the speech that was used in making it. John A. Heydler, President of the National Baseball League, having a film made of a baseball talk which will later be broadcasted via radio. The inventor is directing the recording.

BREA NEWS
BREA, March 9.—(Spl.)—Mr.
H. S. SENIORS MAKE WHIRLWIND DRIVE
This morning, promptly at 8:30 o'clock the senior class of Anaheim H. S. assembled at the New Auditorium, eager to start the campaign to raise $800 for curtains in the auditorium.
After roll call, final instructions were issued and all were ready to go. There are 20 teams of 4 members each, making a total of 80 workers. Each team is under the leadership of a captain. The territory has all been carefully assigned. However, it will be impossible to cover the entire territory very thoroughly, and it is therefore requested that all those who desire to either subscribe or renew their subscription to the Literary Digest, do so by sending a check of $4 to the Adaheim Union High School, carefully giving correct name and address. This will be very much appreciated by the Senior class and due credit will be given.
Eight hundred subscribers are wanted to put it over. The campaign may have to be extended for several days in order to give all those who desire to help the Senior Class in its effort to furnish the auditorium with curtains.
The Literary Digest has extended very favorable terms to the school and now is the opportunity, for everyone to join in the campaign for better reading in the home. So, if you are not now a subscriber to the Literary Digest, become one without delay by subscribing through the High school.
