THREE PARTIES TO CELEBRATE ONE BIRTHDAY The Anatoph Piegel home near Placentia, was the scene of festivities recently in honor of the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Piegel. This hospitable couple makes much of their anniversaries each year, and the recent ones were no exception, unless they were just a little more pleasant than before. The house was lavishly decorated with all kinds of spring flowers, many of the bouquets being gifts from friends. Three companies of friends and relatives were entertained at the afternoon and two evening affairs. An evening dinner with chicken as the pronounced article on the menu was served, covers being placed for Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trapp, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trapp, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Dierksen, Mr. and Mrs. J. Carr, all of Anaheim; Mr. and Mrs. G. Engle, of San Bernardino; Mr. and Mrs. Katzer, Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, So Dak.; Mrs. Snyder and Miss Mary Herbert, Chicago; Henry Hackfelt and Mr. Van Hagen. After dinner games and conversation completed the enjoyable evening. On the afternoon previous Mrs. Piegel had invited in several of her lady friends. The afternoon hours passed with fancy work and chatting. A chicken supper was served late in the evening, after games. The table was centered with a lovely basket of spring flowers, which was a gift in honor of the occasion. Guests at this party were the Mesdames Karloff, Heffern, Wright, Brunswick, Christensen, Seaman, Enory, Henning, Newman, Tucker, and the Misses Henning, Karloff and Marjorie Heffren. They were joined after dinner by Mr. Christensen and Social Meeting Tonight Lois Rebekah lodge will hold a regular meeting this evening, but the time will be passed socially; rather than in secret work, as there is no drill practice and no degree work. Good music has been secured for dancing and refreshments will be served. Lois lodge will send several representatives to the school of instruction at which Sycamore Lodge, in Santa Ana will be hostess, Saturday March 10. The meeting will be an all day gathering and in the evening there will be initiation. Luncheon will be served at noon. Assembly officers will be present. Among the 14 Anahiem Rebekah officers present at the gala meeting with Torosa lodge in Santa Ana were Henry A. Mang, district deputy chief patriarch. Notable Tenor Coming The Theo. Karle concert at Santa Ana tomorrow evening promises to be one of the delightful musical treats of the season. Mr. Karle has a fine tenor voice which is so pleasing on the Brunswick records, for which he sings exclusively. The concert will be given at Santa Ana high school auditorium this evening. Schmidt's Music store, Brunswick dealer, has the tickets on sale. 'Seau' Club Meeting Miss Yera O'Rourke was a most gracious hostess last evening when she entertained the members of the Chat 'En Seau club. Embroidery work accompanied by conversation were paartitions of the evening. Music numbers were also enjoyed. Miss O'Rourke served pie a la mode and chocolate. The hostess was the recipient of many lovely gifts and the guests will long remember the joyous occasion, and await another when Mr. Plegel's birthday rolls around. Friends Gather to Play Mrs. J. A. Clayes entertained a party of five hundred card players Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Ames piled up highest score and Mrs. Carroll scored low. After several rounds of games and visiting, Mrs. Clayes served a delightful luncheon with her usual hospitality. Her guests included the members of the club who were Mrs. Homer P. Ames, Mrs. Joe Carroll, Mrs. Wm. A. Dolan, Mrs. A. B. McCord, Mrs. Ernest Borchert, Mrs. W. E. Alexander, Mrs. J. J. Schnuider, Mrs. P. A. A. M. HOSTS TO LARGE CROWD AT INSTALLATION ROYAL Arch Masons of Anaheim were hosts last evening at installation when the wives and families of the members were the guests. Another guest, whose presence gave greatest effect was Mattison B. Jones, Past Grand high priest of Royal Arch Masons of the state of California; Master of the Second vell of the Grand Royal Arch chapter of U. S. A.; president of the board of trustees of Redlands University and president of a Glendale civic association, who gave the address of the evening. The pleasures of the affair opened with a 6:20 banquet to the chapter and their wives, when 135 were seated about the tables. Snappy toasts and responses and felicitations enlivened the meal. Returning to the chapter room to hold the impressive ceremonies, the following officers were officially sent: high priest, Edward H. Alswede; king, J. P. Brastad; scribe, Ernest Ziltmann; secretary, Henson W. Paris; treasurer, W. Bruns; C. H., Carl Martin; P. S., E. H. Metcalf; R. A. C., Harry Whitaker; third, Alonzo Alexander; second vell, W. J. Hillott; first vell, Ed Marton; sentinel, Fred Marsh and chaplain, G. H. Messias. Mr. Jones spoke of Masonry, its steps, its benefits and its pleasures. He also talked of the boys order, the De Molay, of which a local chapter is in process of organization, and other growing ones have been established at Santa Ana, Orange and Fullerton. A short musical program given by Mrs. Walter Ross with a series of solos, accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Seitts, and piano solos, also by Mrs. Seitts, were thoroughly appreciated. Refreshments were served later in the evening. LOCAL YOUNG COUPLE WEDDED HERE YESTERDAY MISS Florence May Murch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Murch, of West Broadway, and Mr. Harold Ambrose Mills, also of Anaheim, were married yesterday afternoon in the White Temple, Rev. Coe Wellman officiating. Only the parents of the bride were present and the young couple left immediately for a honeymoon in San iDego. Mrs. Mills has been a resident of Anaheim only about one year, the family coming here from San Francisco. Mr. Mills is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mills, of 211 South hiladelphia-st. He is connected with the Frank Murch trucking company as driver. Mr. and Mrs. Mills will be at home upon their return in the next new home which they have purchased on East Broadway. City Briefs Mrs. Esther Mosley of Carthage, Illinois is the guest of her son, W. C. Carle. Mrs. J. Stuchberry of San Bernardino is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. L. W. Baggott. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Trapp are happily announcing the arrival of a nine pound baby girl who arrived last evening. Mrs. E. D. Abrams of the Abrams Stationery store, left Sunday for Wichita Falls, Texas, where she will visit for a month with her sister and other relatives. Mrs. M. E. Clouse of Des Moines, Ia., arrived this week to pass the spring and summer with relatives in Camps Shocked by Death The E. B. Camp family is among his many admirers who were shook to hear of the sudden death yesterday of Congressman W. Bourke Cochran, of New York: Mrs. Camp and Mr. Cochran were long-time personal friends in their eastern homes, in fact, more than friendship existed between them at one time. The news was all the more startling, as Mr. and Mrs. Camp were in receipt of a letter from the congressman but a few days ago, and no mention was made of any indisposition. W.C.T.U. Meets Tuesday W. C. T. U. will meet with Mrs. Thomas H. Walker, 208 E. Broadway at 2:30 p.m., next Tuesday. A large attendance is desired. Club Postpones Meeting The meeting of the Social Six, which was to have been held with Mrs. Frank Crise, of Brea, has been postponed on account of Mrs. Cross' illness. The date was set for one week later. Mexican Consul Lectures Ancient history of Mexico will be the topic of the lecture to be given tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Fullerton high school. The lecture will be illustrated with motion pictures and is free. These numbers, of which this is the second, are given under the auspices of the University of Southern California. Fullerton Briefs Wade Quarion, manager of the Crab Tree Store, leaves tonight over the Santa Fe for Clearlake, Ia. Mrs. J. A. Lynch, who has been visiting in Fullerton is returning to Oklahoma. Refreshments were served later in the evening. Dr. Jessurun, on behalf of the R.A.M. chapter, presented Mr.J.A. Clayes, with a past high priest's jewel and Mrs. Clayes with a large banket of flowers. Mr. Jessurun, retiring secretary, was given a gold mounted fountain pen, and the incoming high priest, Mr. Alawede, was presented with a silver mounted gavel by Liberty Court, Order of the Anna-rath. The occasion was one of the most elaborate in fraternal circles and was attended by at least 200 persons. W.H. KENNEDY IMPROVING W.H. Kennedy, Sr., of North Helena-st, is slightly improved this morning, from his serious illness of the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scott of Fullerton will move to Anaheim tomorrow. They were formerly Anaheim residents. Afternoon of Music for Club The regular monthly meeting of Anaheim Ebell club will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, sharp. An interesting program of music has been arranged and a good attendance is expected. The meeting, as usual, will be at the Elks' club. W. Hedges, Mr. and Mrs. Moni Webb; the Misses Minnie and Elizabeth Mang, Adele Howard and Hannah Horowitz and William and Henry A. Mang, the latter being one of the officers. Guests also were present from Brea, Orange, Fullerton and Redlands. The last named lodge is not in this district, but as one of the assembly officers resides in that city, she was accompanied by sisters from her local lodge.
