SLUG GARAGE MEN,
STEAL MOTOR CAR,
THEN WRECK IT
A new type of auto thief was disclosed in Santa Ana early today when two men walked into a garage in the 500 block on No. Main-st., slugged the night man and beat it with a Studebaker auto.
Doyle was knocked "cold." He thinks a black-jack was used.
The car belonged to George Furras, 1929 W. Third-st. He had sent his registration slip, his only record of license and engine numbers, for his 1923 license plates and police were handicapped in their early morning search. Later, however, the car was found upheld down on W. Fifth-st., Santa Ana. It had been badly-damaged.
The end came at one o'clock today at her late home, 525 North Citron street. The survivors are two sons and a daughter, Mrs. Alma Pellegren and John Eymann of Anaheim and W. C. Eymann of Bell.
Mrs. Eymann, or Mrs. Frohling as her friends called her, came to Anaheim on Sept. 12, 1859. The aspect of the future city then was anything but heartening, according to the story she told to Postmaster J. F. Ahlborn. There were weeds, weeds everywhere and disorder and dust. After the marriage ceremony the wedding party went to Los Angeles, where they were entertained by Governor Downey himself, says Ahlborn.
John Frohling, her first husband, with George Hansen, a young engineer of Los Angeles and A. Langenberger, son-in-law of Don Bernardino Yorba, made the arrangements for the purchase of the original 1165 acres of land from Juan Pacifico Ontiveros.

MEXICAN PROBLEM DISCUSSED BEFORE LIONS CLUB TODAY
The Mexican problem was discussed in able fashion today before Anaheim Lions at their regular luncheon meeting in the Elks' clubhouse by Prof. Clellan of the history department of Occidental College.
Prof. Clellan apologized for choosing a "problem" for his topic. He said clubs constantly were listening of some problem, city, national or European.
But for 100 years past the relations between America and Mexico had been a source of problems, he said. The Mexicans are suspicious of any move this country makes, because for generations America was taking her territory. This land grabbing had ceased, but the distrust across the line still existed.
The last Mexican constitution safeguards Mexican resources against seizure by private Americans. America has $1,500,000,000 invested in Mexican oil fields and other mineral resources. Three per cent of her entire mineral resources are in control of foreigners, including Americans.
America must maintain relations with Mexico, because if we step out Mexico will seek alliances with European powers, something already agitated. Sooner or later, by war or diplomacy, the Mexican problem will be settled, said the speaker. The uncertainty cannot exist forever.

Fight men alleged to be implicated in the baseball-riot near Huntington Beach on Sunday were arraigned today before Justice J. B. Cox in Santa Ana. Fourteen warrants had been issued, but two, on John Doe Little-John—first name unknown—and Frank Moore, victim of Officer Roy Ballard's bullet, were not served, and four others were for men City Marshal Jack Tinsley wanted only as witnesses.
The charge against all eight was resisting an officer, and all but one were held under bail of $1,000. The exception was $500. The preliminary examinations were set for March 29 and 30.
The eight were George Cleveland, Oliver Logue, who furnished bail at once; John Doe Cullinger—first name unknown; R. L. Ruere, Sam Bledsoe, Pete J. Murphy and Jack Moran.
Resisting an officer is a misdemeanor only, so the men will get off comparatively easy, if convicted.

POLICE BELIEVE SAME 2 MEN SECURED $200 LOOT
A series of petty burglaries marked the afternoon of Washington's birthday in Anaheim, five homes being robbed in daylight, the burglars escaping with loot that will possibly amount to two hundred dollars.
The homes burglarized were those of A. E. Clark, 317 East Broadway; W. H. Johnston, 601 North Los Angeles street and the home and florist shop of Miss O. Stechart, 301 Emily st. and E. Morris, 111 East Alberta st. The burglars at the Morris, Clark, and Johnston homes seemed to be looking for money and jewelry, while those at the Stroup home were after ladies clothing. All the burglaries occurred sometime between 1 and 5:30 p.m. Only money was taken.

NED FOR USE THEFT
Mike Armenta re Justice J. H. with burglary, a will possibly amount to two hundred dollars.
The homes burglarized were those of A. E. Clark, 317 East Broadway; W. H. Johnston, 601 North Los Angeles street; J. E. Stroup, 630 Zyen street and the home and florist shop of Miss O. Stechart, 201 Emily st. and E. Morris, 111 East Alberta st.
The burglars at the Morris, Clark, and Johnston homes seemed to be looking for money and jewelry, while those at the Stroup home were after ladies clothing. All the burglaries occurred sometime between 1 and 5:30 p.m. Only money was taken from the Stechart florist shop.
The Morris home was easy of entry. Mr. and Mrs. Morris are newlyweds, and had not learned the lesson from practical experience of keeping their doors locked when they go visiting. The burglar simply opened the door and went in.
He removed a dresser drawer, and scooted it under a bed, took some change, a few other small articles and departed.
This is the third time the Stroup home has been robbed, apparently the burglar entered thru the front door by means of a Yale key, the windows and doors all being locked. The house was thoroughly ransacked, and Mrs. Stroup's silk underwear which she had received during the holiday season was taken. Mr. Stroup's pistol was removed from his suitcase, taken into another room and hidden, apparently the burglar feared he would come home, and make use of it before they could escape. Care was taken to remove nothing on which were the least mark of identification.
The burglar left a $25 kodak and other articles, which they could not but have seen. They also took two of the little Stroup girl's dresses.
Two pair of shoes, some change, and jewelry was taken from the Johnston home, the burglar apparently being frightened away before they had completed the job. It is that they entered from the back door by means of a pass-key, locking the door behind them as they went out.
The Clark home was entered by the first door on the side porch, the burglar somehow getting the screen door open, and possibly using a pass-key on the door. They took a lavelier set with a diamond, and a Colt revolver. Attempts to enter the Clark home have been made a number of times before.
The burglar entered the Stechart floral shop while Miss Stechart was out in the back yard. They ransacked her purse, a letter laying on the desk and the cash register, escaping with about $16. Miss Stechart thinks it was a sneak thief, who had seen where she kept her money when she left the blind up the night before while she was putting it way. The cash register in her-shop is not prominent.
The police think that the burglaries were committed by the same two men who were seen at different places by the neighbors. One of them stayed in the car while the
SHIP MORE CITRUS FRUIT IN HIGHEST BRANDS THIS YEAR
The 51 to 53 percent of the fruit of the Anaheim Orange and Lemon Association which was shipped as Sunkist, the highest brand of the exchange, in the past two seasons, may be considerably increased this year, if weather and other conditions continue favorable in the opinion of Manager G. W. Sandilands. Sandilands refused to hazard an estimate, because estimates still are largely guesswork, he said today.
At the same time the remarkably good showing last season, as compared with previous ones, in spite of the cold weather, indicates that the increase will not be as great as the general public might expect. The variation, for example, between the two seasons was only eight tenths of one percent.
The Anaheim Citrus Fruit Association is also optimistic over a larger percentage of Spankist brands than last year, but points out that extremely small and extremely large sizes, regardless of quality, shut the fruit out of this grade.
The Autumn Leafe and Sonflower M. O. D. brands, the highest of this organization, also will constitute a larger percentage of the total crop than last year, according to Manager J. H. Ritchie of the Anaheim Co-op. Orange Association.
ORANGE TREES HIGH PRICED THIS YEAR
Growers or individuals who intend to plant orange trees in their yards or groves this year will have to pay from two to three times more per tree than in normal years. Trees are costing from $1.50 to $2.50 and are hard to get even at that price range. Normally trees may be had for 75 cents, and years ago they cost only 15 cents apiece.
High prices are due to the cold weather of last year, which killed thousands of young trees. The seedling is not budded until it is a year old, and not sold until the bud has grown for another year, so that next year's supply of trees will be small again and prices high.
This is the time to plant, says Manager G. W. Sandilands of the Anaheim Orange and Lemon Association, whether for a new grove or as re-sets to take the place-of treasured appear to be of as fine quality as usual.
