LUNCHEON TABLE
With forty-six ladies congregating at the F. A. Backs, Sr., home yesterday at luncheon hour, one of the nicest affairs of the club season occurred. Mrs. Backs and Mrs. Nellie E. Terry were hostesses to the members of the Domestic Science section of the Anaheim Ebell club, three-course luncheon being served at 1 o'clock.
The two long tables and two smaller ones, with lovely centerpieces of pink sweet peas from the gardens of Miss Kate Ita, were beautifully appointed. A pink and white motif in the dining room with lavender sweet peas in the living rooms gave a breath of Springtime as pastel colorings and fragrance of bloom may do.
Favors were small ships, the handiwork of Mrs. R. B. Herman, leader of the section, which were filled with candies and huts. Imbedded in the sweets each lady found a tiny folded slip which contained her "fortune", the clever and original work of Mrs. G. M. Simpson, curator of Ebell club.
When the prophylaxis were read aloud they excited much moreiment.
The feature of the luncheon was the excellent paper given by Mrs. C. W. Hedges, who told of the requirements for a solid foundation in home life, not the least of these being a broad knowledge domestic science as pertains to cooking.
The next meeting will be held with Mrs. F. G. Peck, on Monday, March 19.

Luncheon in Long Beach
Several Anaheim ladies helped well the number of luncheon guests to thirty, when Mrs. G. E. McDonald, Mrs. G. W. Henzick, Mrs. Wm. Wanke and Mrs. W. E. Towers, of Long Beach, were joint hostesses at the Towers home at one o'clock luncheon.
Mrs. Ida Pohman, Mrs. F. R. Hertert and Mrs. F. A. Pehlman drove over to the beach city in time to enjoy greetings and a little chat before luncheon time. Other guests included ladies from Los Angeles and San Pedro.
The table was pretty with its fragrant red carnation centerpiece, interwoven with ferns. After the repaint the ladies had their pictures taken and devoted the remainder of the day to general visiting.
Energetic Motor Party
Mrs. W. F. McCabe, of New York, who is wintering in California and is the guest of her brother; Ed Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Nenno, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Nenho formed a motor party to San Diego over the week end.
The sextet left Anaheim at 6:30 Sunday morning, visiting the mission and other historical places en route. They also drove over La Jolla arriving in time for luncheon in the southern city. A visit to the ostrich farm and an evening drive brought the party to thorough appreciation of the hour of retiring. Earlier Monday morning they left for Tia Juana, Corinado and other points and again had a complete day, arriving home late last night.
Jolly Bunch, Jolly Party
The "Jolly Bunch," which is composed of a congenial number of local high school pupils, held a meeting at the home of Miss Florence Trapp and proved that the club has been appropriately named.
With games of varied kinds, and singing high school songs, the evening rushed along. Valentines were an interesting feature of amusement.
Refreshments were served about 16 o'clock, and with a little music and a game or two afterward, the merry party came to a conclusion. The guests included the Misses Lucy Abplainp, Roberta and Blanche Cawhon, Dorothy Salter, Blenda Probst, Jane Cans, Mr. and Mrs. Probst and daughter, Lucille, Mr. and Mrs. George Trapp, parents of the young hostess, and Merris Wayne Overleese, Ted and Ed Sims, Jake o'Jnes, Jack Barnett, Wilton Abplainp, Erwin Holder, Raymond Musser and Claude Preston.

Four Plays in One Nite
Plans are being perfected at Anaheim this week for the four one-act plays which will be given in the auditorium Friday, Feb. 23. The dramatic classes under the supervision of Miss Lucille Bickley are all entertaining.
A small charge will be made and the money goes to the scholarship fund. This department is sending several students thru college and needs more money.
The sketches are "He Said and She Said." "The Wonder Hat" something now in line of entertainment, is sure to please. It is a delightful fantasy and special costumes and scenery are being made.
"Droggs" is a dramatic comedy and a scream from start to finish. A pleasing domestic comedy is "Tuesday Evening" which deals with the young married couple, Mr. and Mrs.Gordon Johns and the "an-laws."
Tickets may be secured from any of the Hi school students or at the box office the night of the performance. The entertainment will be exceptionally fine and should draw a large crowd.

Community Shop Needs
From the Community Shop comes a call for clothing, which reminds one that the shop ladies are different from those at the church bazaar who advertised that they had discarded clothing of all kinds. The shop ladies haven't, but that's what they want.
In fact the shop stock is low in every department and donations of all kinds are most acceptable. Tomorrow is an open day and it will help a great deal if the contributions are generous and varied. Almost any sort of garment can be sold and many of the poorer homes would be far more comfortable with the addition of a piece or two of furniture or bed covering.
