In the evening the largest crowd of the series of meetings filled the big auditorium. A delegation from Pomona was present. Among those was J. B. Johnson, a former evangelist. The singing was excellent. Each section vied in beating the other sections in singing. Evangelist Vawter answered several questions from the question box. Nightly it is seen that he has fine command of the Bible, and is a fine Bible teacher. The subject was "What Must I Do Be Saved?" The evangelist said, "This is not solved by what any good man says about it but what the Lord said. This question was asked six times in the New Testament. The first three times is a duplication of one man's asking the rich young ruler. The question was asked in Matthew 19:16 and answered in Matt. 19:21. "The Ten Commandments would not save under the old dispensation nor under the new dispensation for we are saved by the blood of Christ and Christ is not mentioned or implied in the Ten Commandments. The duplication of this incident is found in Mark and Luke.Jesus' real answer was 'Come follow me.'As the rich young ruler did not follow Jesus, the we do not have his example so must look to those who did follow Jesus." "The question is asked again in Acts 2:37 and answered in Acts 2:38" "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins." "Between the time of the incident of the young ruler and one recorded in Acts.Jesus died promising the Spirit, and giving the marching orders to his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until the Spirit came and then go and teach. The Spirit came,Peter preached the great sermon They were told to repent and be baptized and the gift of the Holy Spirit would be given them. "In Acts 16:39 the question is asked of Paul and Silas by the Jailor. An answered in Acts 16:31-33." "Bellevue on the Lord Jesus Christ." "The jailor washed the backs of Paul and Silas showing repentance They were baptized the same hour of the night." "The last time the question is asked is in the record of Paul's conversion;Acts 22:10 and answered in Acts 22:16 when Paul was told to "Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins."Paul already believed and repented." "Since these people followed Jesus we know what he meant when he said," "Come follow me." In these incidents we find that all believed all repented and all were baptized."
