4835 MILES WITH 23 MILES PER GAL. H. E. Robinson, a brother of Roy Robinson of Robinson's Cash Market on East Chapman in Orange, told Harry Riley's agency of a recent trip with his Studebaker light six touring, which proved to him positively that there was real service built in Studebaker cars. He came from Abbington, Illinois, to Orange taking in all points of interest along the way, including Yellowstone National Park and Pikes Peak; a total of 4835 miles, and averaged 23½ to each gallon of gasoline, without a puncture, arriving in California with Illinois, air in all tires. Robinson stopped in Fresno and other California cities, but prefers Orange County to any other locality he has ever been in. Riley's sales this week include: New Studebaker touring to Margaret Fisher of Fullerton and R. V. Williams of Anaheim and a coupe roadster to H. W. Guledge of Orange. Others who have purchased cars are G. J. LaPlace of Anaheim; R. E. Berry of Brea, Richard Wedge of Orange, W. M. Ligon of Orange and Fred E. Smith of Fullerton. APPLEBY TO HANDLE PEERLESS CARS HERE A new Durant model has been interesting Durant fans this week, a sport touring. A two-passenger businessmen's coupe, also new, is expected on the scene today. Three of the sports were sold by the Appleby Motors Company, Orange-co distributors, the first day. Jim Appleby has taken over the big showrooms and repair shop at 111 North Lemon-st, formerly occupied by T. L. DeCew with the Lexington, and will handle the Durant and Peerless there and Star at his present quarters. In private life Mr. Clements is a steamship agent, and Mrs. Clements is a saleslady. They are present in Italy settling their claims to the estate and are soon to return to their regular vocation. 711 CARS HANDLED BY EDDY IN YEAR One year ago yesterday the Auto Paint Shop was opened with but one automobile painter. As the business grew more painters were added, and today there are from four to seven constantly busy. Hamm and his aides are going after the business and not merely waiting for prospects to come to them. Each car, before it is offered for sale, will be overhauled mechanically and re-painted. Shipments are coming in better, but Mann is finding it difficult to keep the necessary demonstration and exhibit cars on his floor. He still has a sedan, touring car and roadster. The coupe is the finest product yet turned out by the Dodge people. As sturdy as any of its predecessors, built all of steel, it embodies grace a-plenty. It may be had with wooden or disc wheels. There is a heater, the upholstery is of Spanish leather, the instrument board is complete including an oil register, and in the rear there is a compartment big enough to contain two steamer trunks, if necessary, or the entire camping outfit for a small party. These new cars, because of the conservative policy of the company, are just coming into public appreciation. Dodge fans declare that the company has proved it can be progressive as well as conservative and turn out a beautiful as well as substantial car. Servicing Problem Solution Important "In watching the development of new car models, the public in general has been overlooking the fact that much has been done to improve the facilities for servicing cars and assuring economical maintenance," says George Dunton, Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor. "The service problem is becoming one of the biggest in the automotive industry. In former years all the dealer’s attention was focused on the sale of cars, and we witnessed the interesting spectacle of a dealer who had nothing whatever except cars doing a huge annual business." "The men days are gone forever." The man who goes out to buy an automobile today is thinking about what will happen after the sale. He very often changes his original choice just because the local facilities for servicing the car are too limited. WEEKLY SPECIALS NENNO-BOCK POLICY Continuing its policy of offering a special each week practically at wholesame prices, Nenno & Bock are giving Anahelmers some rare opportunities of supplying their accessory needs. This week tires have been offered at 20 per cent discount or better. No small part of these discounts have been made possible by the cash policy which the firm has adopted, and make good the promise at the time proposed change in policy. Nenno doesn’t know what the next special will be. Nenno points out that his stock in with customers better satisfied all around is part of the new policy. Neno points out that his stock is so large and varied that the purchaser can save a lot of time as well as money by patronizing him to say nothing of being able to compare the merits of many different makes of an article at one time. Horse Shoe Tires At Standard Prices The Horse Shoe tire, which because of its larger size, greater amount of rubber and unusual quality always has sold for a little more than most of the other makes, is now on the same price level as the other standard makes, says James, the Vulcanizer, following the advance in price on the latter. James invites prospects to look about and see how many Horse Shoe tires there are right here in Anaheim. Then to go a step further and find out from actual users what service the tire is giving. James also has the Ajax, Federal and Goodyear leather upholstery, all metal parts etc. is also a nobby creation. Plain Dealer Want Ads Get Results Pure rubber floats. He very often changes his original choice just because the local facilities for servicing the car are too limited. If he has ever owned or driven a car, he knows one thing well, and that is that the car which gives the biggest measure of satisfactory daily transportation is the car that is backed by the most efficient facilities for local service. "The dealer who is specializing in any particular automobile is regarded as the one who is primarily obligated to provide all the modern things that make service, repairs, adjustments, etc. quick and low-priced. Modern times have produced many items of equipment which help him do this. To possess them requires an investment on his party, but if he expects to commandd the confidence of the car buyers, he must have them." West Bros.
