YORBA LINDA
Feb. 15.—A large number of local members of the Masonic order met at the Garl Seamans home a few nights ago as a surprise to Mr. Seamans who is one of their valued members, but who, because of sickness has not been able to be with them much the past year.
The evening was delightfully spent with music which included vocal and violin numbers by those present. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served and a jolly good time is reported.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Eichler were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Boyd of Anaheim.
Mrs. Grover Beale and Mrs. Harry Hober were shopping in Los Angeles Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Knight were in San Bernardino Tuesday looking after ranch interests, and visitin relatives.
Mr. Leroy Johnson threw open his house to a number of friends Saturday evening, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Weingartner of New York who are spending the winter in California. Sixteen guests spent a jolly evening with music and dancing, at the close of which refreshments of sandwiches, pickles, cheese, doughnuts and coffee were served by the genial host.
Mrs. H. R. Brown visited friends in Whittier Friday and Saturday.
Mrs. Ward Holland attended a party in Whittier on Saturday evening of a number of old school girl friends who manage to get together once or twice a year. Mrs. Holland returned Sunday.
The Eastern Star held an enjoyable meeting in Ley Hall on Monday evening to celebrate their sixth birthday. A 6:30 supper with a full birthday cake was much enjoyed by the guests present, who numbered about eighty-five. A short business session was held in one charge of affairs in the other, and with the help of a number of brilliant speech makers and storytellers kept the guests very well amused.
All then adjourned to the auditorium where a musical program had been arranged, those taking part including: Mrs. J. J. Alexander, Mrs.

City Briefs
Mrs. Wmi. Jackson, just returned from New York where she was called by the illness and death of her father, says the east has had a very disagreeable winter. The Hudson river was frozen over while she was there and she suffered a severe attack of grip, proving conclusively in her mind that she was no longer acclimated to last section. She was delighted to get back in Anaheim.
M. Eugene Durfee, architect, has returned from a business trip to Arizona.
Among those near Cypress suffering with influenza are Mrs. Morris, Jack and Leona Luther, Mr. Wallace.
Lillian Ahern, Mrs. Walter Sanders, and Mrs. Alvin Neville spent yesterday at Long Beach.
M. F. Andrade has just completed some improvements on his place in Valencia Square.
City Manager O. E. Steward was back at his desk today after a three weeks' tussle with influenza, bordering on pneumonia. He doesn't feel very strong yet and will take things easy for awhile.
Miss Charleen Smith who has been confined to her home with the flu this week hopes to resume her studies at high school next week.
Among the high school absentees this week is Mrs. Wayne Amack, who has been ill with flu.

BUENA PARK, Feb. 15. (Spl.)—The Parent-Teachers association met at the school hall Tuesday evening with a large attendance. The meeting opened with the singing of America led by Rev. Higenfeld.
Mrs. George Cole read on article on the 26th birthday of the P. T. A. which is on Feb. 17th.
Mr. Cole spoke on motion pictures to be used in connection with the school work.
The faculty of the school had prepared a play entitled "How the Story Grew."

Mrs. Brown started the story and it was certainly magnified by the time it had reached Mrs. White. The audience was kept in a gale of laughter through the entire play. The costumes were very appropriate and the ladies looked quite charming in the styles of years ago.
A silver collection was taken and $13.19 were added to the P. T. A. treasury as a result. Between acts the audience was favored with two piano solos by Miss Trindle and a whistling solo by Miss Dorothy Winters.
Mrs. Harold Jaynes of Santa Ann visited with relatives in town on Tuesday.
Miss Hilda Calaway returned to Huntington eBach on Tuesday after spending several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Calaway.
