The fact that Miss Esmay sang at the Valencia Orange show at Anaheim for the past two seasons, the National Orange show at San Bernardino two years ago, as well as every radio broadcasting station in Los Angeles, added to the fact that she is an Orange-co girl, introduces her and recommends her highly as a soloist. (Something la Prof.Coue, eh? what?) To begin with: Everyone will be glad to hear that our well-beloved singer Mr.Joseph Sanchez has at last been able to get in as a pupil of the renowned singer and master-teacher of the voice, Signor A.Alberti, now teaching in Los Angeles. Signor Alberti's fame as an operatic singer is too well known the world over, for us to say anything much about it, and since he started teaching he has brought so many big voices out that this is all we will say about that but, what birings us back to our original subject is that in doing all this work, time has to be taken in consideration and Sig.Alberti's time was so laken up he could not take on another single one until a happy vacancy should occur and now our Joe has at last had his wish fulfilled and become the accepted pupil of the great master and—here's our hearty congratulations and good wishes, Joe. For the past three weeks the Santa Fe has had its semaphore-bridge men placing the last part of its signalling system through this section; the signals have been put up and they have had to be taken down as there are so many unusual curves around here, especially near the station, that it was hard to adjust them satisfactorily, all; around. Meanwhile several empty box cars that Ed Wadsworth, Miles Bever, W. H. Wilson, E. A. Davis, L. R. Wilson, C. Lamb, Marion Eden, O. R. Owen, George Thompson and son, Dick, E. R. Batmes, of Whittier; Walter Radcliffe, of Los Angeles; Miss Maynie Wallace, of Chicago, who is the house guest of the Plantings, and with Mr. and Mrs. Planting and daughter, Norma, a most congenial company was present. Pupils in Recital Mrs. Luna Wellman Quarton, of the College of Music, U. S. C. will present her pupils from her Anaheim studio, at Anaheim H. S. Saturday at 7:30. This is Mrs. Quartona's first recital since her return from New York. The program will be varied, ranging from the simpler pieces of the beginner to the more difficult numbers of the advanced pupils. Two artists will also appear on the program, Miss Elizabeth Mottern, soprano, of the College of Music, U. S. C. will entertain. Miss Mottern has a large number of radio fans in Anaheim as her charming voice has been sent thru the air. Miss Eva Wilbern, pupil of Miss Lucille Bickley, of the Anaheim H. S. will give a number of readings. The public is invited to the recital. City Briefs T. F. Shea has returned from a business trip to Arizona. The two-year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Dooley is very ill with pneumonia. An accident was reported to local police yesterday when a car owned by J. R. Anderson of Anaheim bumped into the rear of another car on Center-st. Neither car was badly damaged. No one was reported injured. Ruth Grim went to Los Angeles yesterday. Mrs. Ross Redfern, of La Habra, and little daughter, Betty, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scott over night. Mrs. Redfern was initiated into the Pythian Sisters Temple last night, one of a class of fourteen. Mr. Frank Koff, recently of Fremont, Neb., is the guest of his relatives, the R. H. Meyers family on Orangethorpe road. He will be joined by his wife as soon as a location is found, for they are planning to make the permanent home in the community. Pearson, in honor of the lady; then on another night she attended a dancing party given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Pearson which was a thorough and complete success. Another very enjoyable affair or series of affairs, was the way Mansieur Jean Pierre Riviere, threw his home open to all friends con-cerned and gave them his version and conception of how it could be done alla Francaise, and you may believe it, everyone was just simply delighted with the kind gentleman and his hospitable ways. Mr. Riviere's home is a mansion, of so many rooms that it reminded us of the legend of Montezuma's hones, that a person could well get lost in it, if you were not acquainted with the ins and outs, or exits, of it. There are art treasures and curiosities to rival a museum, and the out-of-doors is not to be forgotten either, for his spacious and well kept acres have many rare flowers and fruits, the most part being in critic and deciduous fruits though, which bring him a veritable income, but as the gentleman has other properties and does not have to depend on what is only his pleasure to maintain, so he really gets all the pleasure in the world out of his possessions; likewise his friends. Mrs. Velasco says that when it comes to entertaining the Aid To Have Party Circle No. Three of the Presbyterian Ladies' Aid society, of which Mrs. Janet Spencer is chairman, is hold- ing an entertainment in the church Friday evening. All members of the congregation are invited and visiting friends in the city are heartily welcome. An interesting program under the leadership of Mrs. W. B. Holland and Mrs. H. A. Johnston, will be presented. San Bernardino people, as the one that entertained her anyway, have certainly made an art of it, and hopes that sometime again she may be able to make the same kind of report from the same place.
