PASTOR AND MISS
BROWN RECEIVE
CHURCH FRIENDS
HONORING the ushers and officers of the Altar society, the choir and the husbands and wives, Rev. P. Brown and his sister, Miss Brown, entertained last night with a reception and cards, later, in the Knights of Columbus hall.
After a general handshaking, greetings and an informal hour tables were produced and attention was centered upon cards. Scores gave the first prize to Mrs. E. Brus for the ladies and to Mr. F. C. Grim for the men. Consolation was awarded to Mr. Brus and to Mrs. C. J. Nenno. Eight tables were filled.
Miss Brown, with the assistance of several of the ladies, then served a three-course luncheon.
Sorority Luncheon
Mrs. George Dunsmoor very graciously entertained eight members of the Delta Phi Omega sorority, of Los Angeles, Wednesday when she presided at a smartly appointed luncheon at 12:30. Attractive color features were carried out in yellow. Following the luncheon, bridge was played. Mrs. Speiss made high score.
Guests of Mrs. Dunsmoor included Mrs. P. Vern Petty, Mrs. Louis Speiss, Mrs. Joseph Hoover, Mrs. Cornellius Comeys all Los Angeles, Mrs. Arthur Cox, Hollywood, Mrs. George Sheehan, South Pasadena, Mrs. Everett Dunlap, Burbank, Mrs. Herbert Sutton, Van Nuye.

The Sunday school at the Cypress Community church started out for the new year with renewed interest. Credits are being given to any members who will join the contest, for being on time a studied lesson, new
Dinner for Newlyweds
A radio dinner complimenting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dahn was given by Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Beard last evening at their home on East Santa Ana-st. The table carried an aerial through the center and the color scheme was in shades of violet, in reference to violet rays. A radio program after dinner was the enjoyable manner of entertainment. Place cards carried tiny brides and kewples.
Mr. and Mrs. Dahn returned from their honeymoon if Santa Barbara Tuesday, both resuming their positions here. Mrs. Dahn as Miss Edna Kloff, has been cashier for the local telephone office and will continue her work for a time. Mr. Dahn is connected with the Ames & McFadden law office, and is a promising young attorney.
Efficiency Club Installs
The Efficiency club of the Southern Counties Gas company held installation of officers Wednesday evening at the meeting in Santa Ana Members from Anheim attending were Miss Utick, Miss Backe, Mrs Purdy, Mr. Epperly, Mr Shaffer and Miss Healy, of Placentia, F. W. Todd, of Anaheim, acted as installing officer.
The club was organized by Mr. Todd in 1916 and has grown to the number of eighty-five. The club is planning a visit to Long Beach in the near future, when it will assist in installing the new officers of the beach city club. The next meeting of the Orange-co organization will be held in February when the women members will give a banquet.
State Officer Coming
Rosewood camp, Royal Neighbors of America, will hold installation of officers Monday afternoon at 2:50. The meeting will not-be open, as frequently they are State Superintendent.

Cypress S. S. In Contest
The Sunday school at the Cypress Community church started out for the new year with renewed interest. Credits are being given to any members who will join the contest, for being on time, a studied lesson, new pupils and bringing the Bible, as well as some other points. The plan is working nicely. All are welcome. The hour is 9:45 in the morning.
Campfire Girls
The Campfire Girls will have a meeting Saturday at 7 p.m. In Citron school building.
State Officer Coming
Rosewood camp, Royal Neighbors of America, will hold installation of officers Monday afternoon at 2:50. The meeting will not be open, as frequently they are. State Superintendent Deputy Mrs. Christine Hammill, of Pacific Camp, Los Angeles, and her assistant will be present to install. Refreshments will be served by the birthday hostesses from December and January, who are Ida Chapman, Pauline Mang, Mollie Boehner, Iora Chandler, Etta Coykendall, Rita Wilson, Frieda Rutledge, Emma Gribben and Richard Groos.

SMALL BOY HAS
HAPPY PARTY ON
8TH BIRTHDAY
MASTER Howard Christensen reached his eighth birthday yesterday and was given a nice little surprise party by his mother and friends. During his absence at school the rooms were triomed in pink and white and otherwise decorated for the occasion.
After the children all arrived they played games out of doors, while the mothers, friends of Mrs. Christensen, enjoyed five hundred in the living room. Howard was brought many pretty gifts, among them a very handsome ring, the gift from his mother.
Refreshments of birthday cake, a pretty one in pink and white decorated with eight pink tapers and baked by Mrs. J. A. Ramage, with other things pleasing to the taste of children, were served. Howard blew the candles out at the same time making a wish. When questioned, he manfully admitted wishing that one of the little girls, who was his guest, would become his bride—plotting already. During refreshments the children wore their souvenir paper caps.
Howard's guests included Lila May Narraith, Junior Potter, Loraine Dillow, Billie Dillow, Bernard Peacock, Jack and Marjorie Erickson, Roy and Charles Brownfield, Harold Ennis, and the older guests were Mrs. E. Clar, Miss Phyllis Clark, James Boyd and the Mesdames Dillow, Peacock, Narraith and Ramage.
E. L. Conference Tonite
Epworth Leaguers are reminded that tonight is the time for the big league rally when Miss Emma A. Robinson, from the general office in Chicago, will be present for a conference. A banquet will be served at
Baker's Dozen to Hike
A dozen and one memebrs of the hiking club, were entertained last evening by Miss Philura Sparks. Plans were made to go to Oakwild for a hike, Sunday, when the girls will leave for Pasadena at 7 o'clock. All planning to go should be at the flag pole at that hour.
Five hundred furnished amusement for the remaining hours and prize winners were Miss Lucille Perry, first, and Marie Schacht, consolation. A two-course lunchgon followed the games.
Present were Misses Alameda Hodgdon, Agnes Bastian, Margaret Humeston, Minnie Kelley, Helen Melhorn, Ruth Pannier, Annie Sayles, Marie Schacht, H. Van de Erve, Alice Teevan, Lucille Perry, Lois Dyer, Calyne Sparks, the two latter who joined the club last evening; and the hostess, Miss Sparks.
Elite Club at Nebelung's
A pleasant afternoon was passed yesterday at the Max Nebelung home when Mrs. Nebelung entertained the members of the Elite club. Attractive cut flowers graced the living and dining rooms. Prize winners for the games were Mrs. Herman Schindler, Mrs. L. Z. Kroeger, and Mrs. J. H. Kellenberger. Other players were Mrs. A. K. Dahl, Mrs. L. Dahlmann, Mrs. Merton Skinner who substituted for Mrs. Len Witherill, Mrs. Henry Heying, Mrs. Ferd Heying, Mrs. Sophia Stock, Mrs. A. A. Vall, Mrs. Max Nebelung, Mrs. J. B. Eden, Mrs. Leon Porter, Los Angeles, Mrs. A. F. Nowotny, Mrs. J. H. Brunsworth and Mrs. R. B. Herman.
Club Meets at Ranch

George Dunton, agent for Ford,

With E. H. Metcalf who had been out of the city several days as his witness, George Jackson yesterday received his final papers of citizenship.
C. C. Sidnam today visited the Sidnam Bros., ranch at Victoryville.
James E. Stewart of the Stewart Realty Co. went to Long Beach yesterday on business.
H. B. Kalm of San Francisco has accepted a position with the Grim-Ganah Lumber Co., as bookkeeper, arriving yesterday. He is single and looking for a good lodging place.
Mrs. E. G. Ingram, wife of the manager of the California Theater, left last night over the Santa Fe for a trip to Dallas, Texas.
H. A. Lake and family enjoyed a trip to Pomona Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Ellott spent Sunday with friends at Pasadena.
Basketballers Celebrate

N. G. Deer brother of Mrs. W. S. Huddle, arrived last evening from Oklahoma for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Huddle. Mr. Derr is getting his first sight of the ocean today, Long Beach being the chief place which Mrs. Huddle and Mr. Derr will visit.

The Chat En Seau members enjoyed a jolly time last night as the guests of Miss Viola Elliott. The girls enjoyed their embrodery work, with bits of conversation. A dainty luncheon was served in the late evening.
Mrs. W. J. Elliott, Mrs. Orville Schenck and Miss Zada Wilbur were the guests of the evening. Members were Misses Florence Hammill, Evelyn and Lillian Degryse, Mesdames Gus Prescott, Norbert Anderson, H. K. Boyd, William C. Carle, Norbert Anderson and hostess Miss Elliott.
Church's Last Sunday
Next Sunday will be the last Sunday that the "Christians Only" will hold forth in their old building. The farewell will be celebrated by special music, led by H. Easton-Jennner.
Mr. Myers sermons will be on "What We Stand For." in the morning, and "What Must I Do to Be Saved?" in the evening.
The future meetings will be held in the big tabernacle to be erected next Monday, and continue there in anticipation of the new church, an ambition of the near future.
Dinner For Two Events
A happy party of friends greeted Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gates last evening when they arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Mauerhan, Mr. and Mrs. Gates had been invited there for dinner and the affair was planned as a wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Gates the latter, and also the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Mauerhan decorated her home up prettily for the occasion and at 6:30 all enjoyed the dinner.
Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gates, Mrs. Ida DeVinney, Mrs. Donald DeVinney and children, Mr. and Mrs. Mauerhan and children.

Mr. and Mrs. George Crawford, formerly of Anaheim, but now of Fullerton, are the happy parents of an 8-1-2 pound son who came January 16th. Mr. Crawford is employed at the No. Orange co. Citrus Exchange.
George Van Syckle of Long Beach underwent an operation today at the Fullerton hospital.
Mrs. Jack Reeves and Mrs. Grace Grandall have gone into the real estate business, opening an office in the Harrison Furniture Store in Fullerton.
Gladys M. Munoz has opened an office in the C. of C. rooms in Fullerton as a public stenographer.
R. H. Carter left yesterday over the Santa Fe for Dodge City, Kansas.
Mrs. M. Squier and son of Orange left yesterday over the Santa Fe for St. Paul, Minn., called there by the serious illness of Mrs. Squier's father.
J. R. Ozias left yesterday over the Santa Fe for Kansas City, to visit a short time.
John Scott of La Habra left yesterday over the Santa Fe with the body of his nephew, Willard Scott, for Prairie Grove, Ark. The younger Scott was killed in an automobile accident at San Juan Capistrano.
