W. B. snapped out the week end on hunting trip at Elsinore. Miss Certrude Nelson left last week for Los Angeles where she has entered the Angelus Hospital for a course in nursing. Miss Nelson came down Saturday evening to attend the Eastern Star dance. Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Dano, Mrs. W. W. Shaw and sona Builey and Bob visited over the week-end with Mrs. Mark B. Shaw at San Bernardine. Mrs. Ethel Conway was the guest at a house party at Laguna Beach over the week-end. Donald Osborne the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Osborne had a narrow escape on Friday when he fell on an electric wire that had blown down in front of the school house. One hand was badly burned and he was very weak from the shock. The little son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hawkins is quite ill at the "Retreat" at Anaheim. Mrs. L. Calaway spent Saturday and Sunday with her daughter Miss Hilda Calaway at Huntington Beach. Johnie Allen of Fullerton visited over Saturday night with Harlan Whitzell. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Follis motored to Los Angeles on Saturday evening. Miss Ruth Meyer was the guest of Miss Margaret Nelson over Saturday night. Miss Ruth Edwards of Bellflower was the week-end guest of Miss Blanche Whitzell. The Juvenile Protective Association, following an exhaustive investigation, was responsible for the probe. Its investigator reported that conditions in Chicago were "far worse than in Paris." Chief Justice Michael McKinley of the criminal court calls vice conditions "the shame of Chicago," and has ordered the grand jury to "clean up."
