SEATTLE SPEAKER BEFORE RETAILERS
The Retail Merchants Protective Ass'n., held their regular meeting last evening at the Elks Club house with a 6:30 dinner.
George Wessells of Seattle was the speaker of the evening and took up problems of the retailer. He gave concrete instances of how stores could increase their efficiency.
A problem that is now being solved all over the country is the auto parking. He urged the business man to keep his car off the main street, in order to allow more room for the shopper. He stated in some places city councils were framing ordinances which are proving satisfactory.
A committee was appointed to select and present names for the election of officers which will take place at the annual election in February.
About thirty members were present.
KILLS MOUNTAIN LION
A beautifully marked mountain lion was brought back from Capistrano canyon by Buck Jones and Ross Wheeler of Huntington Beach, whose dogs treed the animal and killed it without a shot being fired. Capture of the beast followed an exciting chase.

Wear, Mrs. Van Hoy, Mrs. Ross Warner, Mrs. Lewis Edwardson, Mrs. H. P. Bendler, Mrs. Joe Monroe, Mrs. Lisle Morehouse, Mrs. Delmar Solesbee, Mrs. Geo. He answered many questions common to our own individual gardens.

ETHEL CLAYTON IN GORGEOUS PICTURE
Ethel Clayton in her most spectacular production is at the United Theater Tuesday and Wednesday. It is called "If I Were Queen" and was founded upon the novel, "The Three Cornered Kingdom" by Du Vernet Rabell.
"If I Were Queen" shows a new Ethel Clayton. Beautiful and talented as ever, Miss Clayton is at her artistic best in romance of this character. Her picture has atmosphere; it has body, it has all the color and picturesqueness of the mythical kingdoms of the Balkans where it is laid.
"If I Were Queen" is built on impressive lines. It has big scenes and situations galore. Perhaps the most thrilling is a railroad wreck that caps the climax of realism on the screen.
Moreover, the cast is of the utmost distinction. Besides Miss Clayton there are Andree Lejon, Warner Baxter, Victory Bateman, Murdoch MacQuarrie and Genevieve Bilinn Wesley Ruggles directed it and his skill is frequently reflected in the development of the big scene.
The picture has been booked for a two-day showing at the United.
