(Spl.)—Yorba, as usual, is celebrating the holidays and we say, "is advised, for in other sections of the country, Christmas starts at midnight of the 24th-25th and ends at midnight of the 25th-26th, but in Yorba the preparations —which were more like celebrations —started ten days before, and have been kept up ever since, until, we suppose, they will begin to overlap the New Year's anticipatory, or preparative New Year's doings. Such goings and comings! Mysterious bundles everywhere and carried around by everybody to somebody or other, and from someone or other Packages that a week ago were reasonably marked "Do not open until the 25th" but which now, being belated, are hurriedly opened and the little squalls of delight accompanying the proceeding, all tend to show that this section, and the calendar notwithstanding the 25th of Dec., or Xmas, is still reigning. Every home had a family gathering; several had Xmas trees and some had crub arrangements of The Infant Jesus, or with pictures of the Divine Child. But everywhere happiness and merriment reigned supreme. Meanwhile the religious phase of Christmas was not forgotten and an-, oh-so-early high mass was celebrated at our church here, by the Rev. Fr. Guadalupe del Río O. F.M. of San Luis Rey Mission, and sang by Mrs. Amelia D. Velasco, with a beautiful solo by Mrs. Victoria J. Wolfskill of Los Angeles, who has a wonderful coloratura voice. Another solo was given by our far-famed Joseph Sanchez whose superb lyric tenor was used to great advantage in a solo-aria appropriate to the occasion. No one slept that night (if they did, we did not know it), for everyone was watching to catch Santa Claus and so be hold the LE VECKE GUESTS GREET NEW YEAR AT CARD PARTY A DELIGHTFUL New Year's watch party was enjoyed at the Wm. Bunyard formed a quartet which greeted the New Year at the Bunyard home Sunday night. Music and visiting with light refreshments, alided in shortening the "waiting" period. —oh, so—early high mass was celebrated at our ebureh here, by the Rev. Fr. Guadalupe del Río O. F. M., of San Luis Rey Mission, and sang by Mrs. No one slept that night (if they did, we did not know it), for everyone was watching to catch Santa Claus and lo, and be hold! the dear, kind Saint, got the best of everyone us for when we all came back from church he had been here and the stockings were filled and overflowing on the beds and floors. And yet he must have been to church too, for there were the tall wax candles, his special gift to the church and the new sculptured figure of the infant Child used for the first time on the Divine Child's special day. Among those entertaining we noted: at the Sancheg nome: Mrs. Catherine S. Nelson of Winnemucca, Nev.; Also Mr. and Mrs Albert Sanchez and family; At E. T. Yorba's, Mrs. Victoria J. Wolfskill and her two young daughters. Our good Fr. Guadalupe was received by Mrs. Z. B. Travis who had besides a houseful of relatives helping her enjoy the festivities, the later can be repeated for the Dominguz Carillos, Corinola C. Yorba's, Peraltas, P. S. Yorba's, Linebargers, and as we said in the beginning, every household here. At the Velasco home, not content with celebrating here, the whole crowd left in the evening of the 25th and attended a Xmas tree party at Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Woods of Los Angeles. Some motored and others went in the train, and it surely looked like a scene from fairyland when the guests arrived at the Wood's home and beheld the electrically-lighted Christmas tree all loaded with gifts, toys, and goods. Music, dancing and games made the time fly to as happy a crowd as has ever assembled. A sunlituous midnight supper was served and the guests, nothing daunted by their similar previous experiences in that line, out here, and besides, the delightful ride and exercise afterwards had whetted their appetites, and made them all do full justice to the repast prepared. Those invited and entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Velasco, after mass were Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Woods, Mesdames E. T. Yorba, V. J.
