NOTICE OF PUBLIC WORKS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: SECTION I. That on the 14th day of December, 1922, the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim passed and adopted its Resolution of Intention No. 187 to order the following described street work to be done in said city, to-wait: That South Illinois Street, in said city, be laid out; opened and extended from the northerly line of the Palmman Tract to the westerly property line of West Broadway Street, and that a 15-foot alley be laid out and opened from the westerly property line of South Indiana Street to the easterly property line of South West Street. BREA NEWS ITEMS BREA, Dec. 26—Spl.) The Ladies Aid of the Christian church gave a Christian Party to their members and friends last Wednesday, in the church annex. An elaborate dinner was prepared by Mrs. Euth Sullivan and her sister, Mrs. Calderwood, and served at 12 o'clock noon. The table decorations were in red and green. Beautiful red and green lighted candles intermingled with dainty smilies the full length of the long table, and a large basket of holly formed the centorpiece. Even the Xmas colors were carried out in the salads. There were 32 seated at the table, while several of the ladies served making a total of 37 besides the children. During the dinner hour there were served pleasant interceptions of rhymes and guigles, which caused laughter and merriment. There were several after dinner speeches the principle one being made by Mrs. Sullivan. At the close of dinner a surprise Xmas tree was uncovered, beautifully decorated, and loaded with presents for the guests. The afternoon was given over to stunts and frolics, put on by members of the society and great fun prevailed for several hours. Mrs. M. H. Mr. A.J.Hulsy on South Flower street returned to work-last Monday after a week's illness on the Union lease. All of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance to an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act to provide for laying out, opening, extending, widening, lighting, or closing in whole or part any street, square, lane, alley; court or place within municipalities, and to condemn and acquire any and all land and property necessary or convenient for that purpose," approved March 6, 1885, and all acts amendatory thereof or supplementary thereto. SECTION 5. For further particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 167, on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Anaheim, in the City Hall in said City. The Red Lantern theater has put on the necessary colored lights in front, adding very much to the attractions of the theater. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hall, on Madrona avenue, were Santa Ana visitors last Tuesday evening to attend the M. W. A. Lodge. They met many old time friends and exchanged pleasant remenances. Brea was in darkness for several hours Wednesday night on account of one of the transformers catching fire and necessitated putting a new Bergman home on E. Birch street Sunday afternoon. The Brea roads are still being improved. Pomona avenue will be completed soon and then Brea will look like a real city. The Christian church had their exercises Sunday night. A splendid program was prepared. The Congregational church had their Christmas tree Sunday night. The Nazarenes had their entertainment Friday evening with a fine program. Watch out for Mr. Harry Bate and wife these days, for they are driving a 1923 model Chevrolet, and it is a beauty, too. They live on Poplar street, Laurel Heights. Mr. Wm.
