FIRE WARNINGS ISSUED FOR SAFTEY
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15. Fire warnings, important to the safety of San Francisco during the Christmas holidays, have been broadcast through the city by the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific. They draw attention to the danger of introducing about premises Christmas greens and canes, harvest specimens, moving picture exhibits and other inglammal materials, such as cotton, to represent snow.
In addition to the danger to property from displays referred to," state the warnings, "the danger to life in crowded stores or places of meeting by reason of a panic occasioned by a fire, even though it be small and easily controlled, is so great that the underwriters, who have made a study of such hazards, would only be partly fulfilling their duty should they fail to give warning.
"Do not decorate your Christmas tree with paper, cotton or any other inflammable material. Use metallic tinsel and other non-inflammable decorations only and set the tree securely so that children, or others, in reaching for things cannot tip it over.
"Do not use cotton of represent snow. Asbestos fiber or powdered mica is a good substitute.
"Do not use candles. The records will show that many lives are lost because of their use. Electric lighting systems properly installed, avoid this danger.
"Do not permit any sort of decorations near gas jets.
"Do not allow trees to remain inside of buildings after the holidays. The tree itself ignites easily when the needles have become dry.
"These suggestions are made in the hope that this Christmas may pass, leaving no aftermath of regret."
Housework is a Burden
Woman's lot is a weary one at best. But with backache and other distressing kidney illies life indeed becomes a burden. Doan's Kidnoy Pills have made life brighter for many.
YORBA LINDA
YORB ALINDA, Dec. 15. (Spil.) The Eastern Star held their installation services at their regular meeting this week in Ley Hall. The affair was public and a great many friends witnessed the pretty scene. The hall was very pretty with garlands and streamers of pepper boughes and wisteria blooms. Mrs. Nora Frioke, the matron installed, was charming in a cream colored gown of georgette heavily covered with sequins. She wore silver brocade slippers and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of Cecil Brinner roses. Proceeding her in the march, was little Miss Bobbie Selover, who scattered rose petals. Mrs. Nancy Hoggins of China made a splendid marshall and the retiring matron, Mrs. R. Madsen presided. Other officers installed were Mr. Michael Martin, worthy patron Mrs. Orpha Van Cleve, asst matron; Mrs. Lena Jacobs, treasurer; Miss Doris Small conductress; Mrs. Clair Shook, secretary; Ass't conductress, Mrs. Mary Martin; Pianist, Mrs. Ruth Tutton; Marshall, Mrs. R. Madson. The five star points were taken by Meadames Theils, Haas, Elder, Lupton and Miss Olive Gale. Mrs. Madsen was presented with a beautiful jewel set pin and flowers from the lodge, and the retiring worthy patron Mr. Benedict presented her a jeweled comb. She responded with a few words of kindness herself remembered Miss Gale with a pin for the latter's work recently the past year.
Little Betty McDavid who has been on the sick list is reported as much improved.
Mrs. Emma Hasg is having her annual exhibit of hand painted china and the public is invited to see her beautiful work.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Parmenter of Los Angeles have moved onto their ranch southeast of town.
Dr. Lester Keller handed in his resignation as president of the local bank at their regular monthly meeting held this week. Dr. Keller explained that, since moving to Hollywood it would be difficult for him to attend to his duties as he felt he should. His resignation was acceptable to the City of A right to reject a tee, of the City

Housework is a Burden
Woman's lot is a weary one at best. But with backache and other distressing kidney ill life indeed becomes a burden. Doan's Kidney Pills have made life brighter for many Anaheim women.
Mrs. Lizzie Neiman, 425 E. Adele- st., Anaheim, says: "I have often used Doan's Kidney Pills when my kidneys have troubled me and they have never failed to give good results. I gladly recommend Doan's to others. I had attacks of backache that made me miserable and I was often unable to do my housework, especially sweeping or lifting. I was annoyed by kidney weakness, too. Doan's Kidney Pills always relieve those attacks, strengthening my back and kidneys."
