BIGGEST WEEK FOR LONG BEACH FIELD
With Oil Operators
The week just closed has been the biggest in the history of the Long Beach field for gushers, real gushers, the four and five thousand barrel kind. The Marine Oil Corporation started the big well program with a 4200 barrel producer at its No. 7. The big Marine well was finished at 3790 and marks the Marine Oil Corporation's greatest success at Long Beach. This company entered the Long Beach field less than a year ago and has developed in that comparatively short time a 40,000 barrel production.
Harry Macmillan and J. J. Davis stepped into the Long Beach field a few months ago comparatively unnoticed. Today these two private operators have the greatest oil producer the Long Beach field has yet produced. The Macmillan-Davis Syndicate on Braytonave just 250 feet away from the Marine gusher bust in a well with an estimated initial production of 5,000 barrels. The Macmillan-Davis Syndicate will be completed at a depth of 3875 feet and is producing -28 gravity, clean oil. The big well will probably settle down to a steady flow of 4500 barrels. "Pop" Schneider former field manager for the Amalgamated Oil Co. superintended the drilling and bringing in of this great well and to him is due a share of the success enjoyed by the Macmillan-Davis Syndicate.
The Casa Elanca Oil Co. headed by J. J. Donley is now the possessor of an 1800 barrel well at Long Beach. The Donley well was completed at a depth of 3415 and is a Mekon Drilling Co. product. The Donley interests so far has failed to have a great deal of success at Santa Fe Springs but seem to be making it up in the beach field.
One of the most interesting of the week's developments at Long Beach is the announcement of the fact that the O.K. Fisher Oil Co.'s well is to be drilled. A year ago this well located on the extreme south side of the Hill was abandoned at 4420 feet. The U.S. PAYING OFF LIBERTY BOND DEBT WASHINGTON, Dec. 12. Did you ever borrow a dollar from a friend upon a promise to pay him back on Saturday and then change your mind and pay him on Friday.
That's exactly what Uncle Sam is doing, in a larger way, with his—or rather your—liberty bonds.
He has so much money that he is renaying the debt in advance.
Analysis of treasury department figures shows that Uncle Sam is steadily buying billions of dollars in those bonds, some of which will not fall due for more than 20 years.
Most of these transactions mean except that they stiffen the value of his hand—a the government is buying back these securities in the open market very quietly.
But with the $4,500,000,000 fifth, or Victory loan the holder is directly affected. Half of this issue—the bearing serial letters A, B, C, D, E, F—have been called by Sec. Melton for redemption Dec. 15, and the nest will be paid off at maturity May 20, 1922. Less than $3,000,000,000 is now outstanding.
Half our cues words, says Tom Sims, were thought of by people who were getting out of bed.

One of the most interesting of the week's developments at Long Beach is the announcement of the fact that the Fischer Oil Co.'s well is to be drilled. A year ago this well located on the extreme south side of the Hill was abandoned at 4420 feet. The Henderson Petroleum Syndicate has taken a contract to drill the well to 4500 feet and share in half the production. Recent developments in the redrilling and deepening of wells on the south slope warrant the opening up of the Fischer well and the deepening work will be watched with great interest. It will be remembered that the Fischer Oil Co. made a determined effort to get production a year ago, spending a lot of money on the well, and carrying the drilling at that time to a point that seemed to preclude any change of obtaining production.
Ed Herwick's outpost well, the well that has been scheduled to extend the southwest section of the field has not come up to expectations on production as yet. Drilled to 4325 the well is flowing an average of about 300 barrels. Sand is giving the well a lot of trouble. It is the consensus of opinion, than more hole will bring the production up to a good well.
The Mitchell-Corbett well, one of the Moore-Tohask group supplied its owners by increasing its production from 300 to 1000 barrels. The Mitchell-Corbett well was completed at 3800 and is producing 22 gravity oil. The discovery property on Signal
