TELEPHONE PIERCES MOUNTAIN RESERVE PASADENA, Dec. 11—For the first time in the history of the Angeles Reserve, a telephone line has been established to Opid's Camp, connecting the West Fork Ranger Station and the Sierra Madre trunk wire, according to an announcement made this morning by the local branch of the United States Forest Service. Deputy Supervisor Thomas W. Sloan, who has just returned to his desk following a brief illness, is jubilant over this latest improvement owing to the fact that communication can now be established with the back mountain country visited by many tourists and residents who penetrate the big reserve. In addition to the new line Mr. Sloan stated that telephone connections with Colby's ranch will soon be a reality as the construction work now being done is almost completed. This line will connect with the Waterman Ranger Station in the Arroyo Seco and furnish communication to another remote section of the mountain district. The lines were made possible by the county granting material, the city of Pasadena advancing labor cost and the Forest Service carrying out the work.
