The selection of a truly artistic piano, such as is wanted in the home of culture and refinement or by the piano artist or proficient amateur, is not a difficult matter. In fact, the group of such pianos is confined to a very few makes, and is ever narrowing.
The writer, always interested in art, had the pleasure of speaking on the subject and gaining instructive information, with Mr. C. W. Austin who conducts Austin's Music Co. at 380 East Center street. Although in the piano business in Anaheim for a little over two years, Mr. Austin has been successful in building up a large trade for himself in the sale of the famous Baldwin make pianos and the world renowned Columbia phonograph.
With remarkable sagacity the manufacturers of the Baldwin made pianos have been able to give the American people the highest class instrument at a price less than is paid for other pianos of the same standard. This margin is the result of their practical knowledge of the piano industry.
In buying the splendid Baldwin pianos one may choose the Manuallo player action, or you may have a piano to be operated by electricity, or you can peddle or best of all, play with your own expression and artistry by hand. The Baldwin pianos are such dependable, high grade instruments that one cannot make any mistake by putting one into the home. The American public has used them for years and their place is secure.
And Mr. Austin handles the handsome and well known Columbia Phonograph. For years this fine machine has furnished joy and pleasure to millions of people the world over. It is such a splendid phonograph and its reputation is so enviable, that one need only say "Columbia" and that word, indeed, will tell the whole story.
Mr. Austin is a man of sterling integrity—that can be seen the minute you meet him. For more than twenty years he was a prominent biscuit manufacturer in Pasadena and his large business there was built upon honesty and quality. Such is his practice in continuing his dealings with the public. He is so scrupulous in every transaction, he is so good natured in every action, he is such a fine type of business man and such a stalwart booster that I can only say that Anaheim is lucky to possess him and his fine little business establishment.
