TWO EVENTS IN COMPLIMENT TO ANNIVERSARY DAY MRS. A. P. Plegel, living near Placentia, gave her husband a double compliment in honor of his birthday when she entertained his relatives at dinner and his close friends the previous evening. The home was prettily trimmed for the affairs with Christmas greens and flowers. The family dinner was served at 1:30, and the fat goose with cold weather accompanying menu made a sumptuous meal. The afternoon was passed in visiting and music and in enjoyment of the babies of the families. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Emil Krueger, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krueger and children, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Cook and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. Harris, Mrs. and Mrs. Behrens, Mr. and Mrs. Mick Simons and children A. Behrens, of Canada. On the previous evening, Mrs. Plegel gave her husband a surprise party. A friend called, asking him to drive to Newport and during their absence the crowd gathered and was ready with happy greetings upon their return just at dinner time. The excellent meal, such as Mrs. Plegel always serves, was ready at 6:30 and thoroughly enjoyed by the Mestras and Mesdames John Newman, Wm. Beaman, A. E. Christensen, Wm. Trapp, Gus Engler, San Bernardino, G. Kratzer, of Long Beach, Earl Tucker, J. C. Robinson, J. Owens, John Carr and Walter Trapp. Goose Supper on Birthday A goose supper was served to the lady friends of Mrs. E. Karloff, living on Ball-rd, yesterday afternoon when a bevy of them had gone to her home to celebrate her birthday anniversary. Victrola music and light needlework occurred the ladies During the ensemble rehearsal of Red Riding Hood, the operetta to be presented this evening in the high school under the auspices of the Music section of the Ebell club, was held last evening with excellent results. The children, as well as their elders, are efficient, and wearing the gorgeous costumes which have been fashioned by the interested women of Anaheim will present a real Fairyland scene. Tickets may be procured at the box office at the high school or at the Heying Pharmacy. Much effort has been expended upon the production and it is hoped the attendance will more than justify the work. The proceeds will be used for the Ebell club's proposed home. The operetta will be preceded by a farce, "The Train to Mauro," in which Mrs. Fave Kern Schulz portrays the leading character. This is a very laughable affair and will put everyone in the jolliest moods for the whole evening. Pretty Tea at Elks' Club A delightful fall bridge tea to which a number of Anaheim ladies were bidden was given at the Elks clubhouse yesterday afternoon by Mrs. J. B. Menges of Fullerton. The parlor was attractively fixed with roses and chrysanthemums in dainty pastel shades. The prizes were all won by Fullerton ladies which included Mrs. Siegfried Silverman, first; Mrs. Wm. Although the day was not fair, the meeting was well attended and the lesson had been especially well prepared. Although this section is one of the newer ones in the club, deep interest is shown in the programs and it is proving one of the most popular departments. W. C. T. U. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound for a soreness in my side. I would suffer so badly every month from my waist down that I could not be on my feet half the time. I was not able to do my work without help. I saw your Vegetable Compound advertised in a newspaper and gave it a fair trial. Now I am able to do my work and don't even have a backache every month. I cannot praise your Vegetable Compound enough and highly recommend it to those who have troubles like mine. I am willing for these facts to be used as a testimonial to lead all who suffer with female troubles, as I did, to the right road to health."—Mrs. LULA VANN, Box 43, Fulton, Arkansas. It is this sort of praise of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, given by word of mouth and by letter, one woman to another, that should cause you to consider taking this well-known medicine, if you are troubled with such symptoms as painful periods, weak, nervous feelings, miserable pains in your back, and cannot work at certain times. Here is a woman who is so grateful and glad to be relieved from a painful and nerve racking physical condition that she wishes to tell all sick women.
