CELEBRATE TWO EVENTS WITH FINE TURKEY DINNER NOTHER of the pleasant gatherings of yesterday was at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ramage, 224 North Clementine-st, when Mrs. J. H. Henry, of Santa Paula was honored on her birthday. The table was centered with a pretty low bouquet of red flowers and greenery, about which an unlimited supply of vinaigrette, appropriate to the occasion, was grouped. After the big turkey had been somewhat reduced in quantify and a sociable hour about the table was over, the friends passed the afternoon with music. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Henry and son, Henry; Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Potter, and son, Junior; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Christensen and son, Howard, Mr. George Hartfield, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Ramage. Texas Folk Dine in Park In direct contrast to the usual Thanksgiving indoor feasts in their native state, Texas, a large company of Floydada county friends gathered yesterday at Orange-co park to enjoy the big dinner under the spreading cakes in the lovely recreation spot. About 80 former residents and some friends partook of the feast, which included the great national bird, and all the fixin's. After dinner life in the old homes was discussed, and all agreed they did not love Texas less, but do love California more. Review Old Days Sunday Dinner Ready The American Legion cooked food sale to be held in Schneider's market Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at 11 o'clock, will prove a rare chance to enjoy Sunday dinner without the work of cooking it. Mrs. Arthur Osburn is captain. Donation will be called for if it is not possible to end them to the market, by phoning Mrs. Osburn, 367-J. The money will be used to bring Christmas cheer to the disabled veterans at Camp Kearney hospital. Cakes, pies and candies are especially solicited. Rehearsals for Cantata Rehearsals for the Christmas cantata, which will be presented by the White Temple talent, will occur as follows: On Tuesday evening at 7:30 the Meadances Durfee, Hitchcock, Pemberton, West, Montgomery, Abernathy, Sutherland, Knife and Miss Margaret Lawrence and the Messrs Poiter, Lewis Collins, Merrill, Campbell, Durfee, Stokes, Montgomery and Phillips will meet for rehearsal. The primary, Junior and intermediate departments of the Sunday school will meet at the church Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, and on Sunday at 9:20, the senior department will hold practice. All these meetings are scheduled for next week. Fine Evening Dinner A delightful chicken dinner was enjoyed last evening by a party of friends who were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. Meeker. The table was prettily laid, with yellow and green as the color motif. Music and conversation were the diversions after the fine repast. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Dage and two small sons, Tom Remp, Misses Florence Meeker and Lillian Degryse and Mr. and Mrs. Frolich ed with the Norse art lywood, and they are fancy dress-ball for the New Year's night. D. Thompson invited a number of the little girls friends over to make merry. The young hostess received many dainty gifts and delighted in showing them to her guests. Gauze were played and late in the afternoon refreshments were enjoyed. The rooms were made gay with pink and blue decorations. Enjoying the hospitality of the Thompson home were Marion Jackson, Bessie Marie Edwards, Janette Fraser, Marjorie Edwards, Mary Fraser, Billie Cleger, Robert Benjamin Frander and little Reberta. The mothers present were Mrs. B. B. Praser, Mrs. F. C. Edwards, Mrs. H. F. Jackson, Mrs. E. D. Thomson and Mrs. M. M. Thompson. A flashlight picture of the merry youngsters was taken by the Cornell studio, which the little Miss will retake as a happy reminder of the joyous affair. Gather About Festal Board Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Luce entertained yesterday with a fine dinner, guests being Mr. and Mrs. Haakon Prolich and their son and Mrs. C. Gilford, of San Francisco and Mr. and Mrs. Pickrell and daughter of Santa Ana. A five course goose dinner was served, and the afternoon passed in an enjoyable manner. Mr. and Mrs. Prolich are connected with the Norse art studio in Hollywood, and they are planning a fancy dress ball for their friends on New Year's night. Quartet Dines Together A 30-pound gobbler graced the dining table yesterday at the C. W. Martin home and was enjoyed by eight guests of the Martins. All the seasonable goodies accompanied the turkey. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Casey, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Renner, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Morley and little son, Messrs Russell Renner and Alfred Bittner and Mr. and Mrs. Martin, host and hostess. After the dinner, cards and a pleasant social hour was enjoyed. The guests were also there for the evening meal. Wed on Thanksgiving Day The marriage of Miss Anna V. Harding to Mr. Spillann H. Viles, the former of Spokane, the latter of Anaheim, but a native of Polk-co., Missouri, was performed yesterday morning at 9:30 at the paragonage. Dr James A. Geissinger officiating. They were accompanied by L. D. Goodyear and Mrs. Jessie B. Barnett, the latter assistant of the groom. The young couple will make their future home in Long Beach, where Mr. Viles works as a carpenter. Family Dines in Santa Ana A family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Wilson, in Santa Ana, was another of the pleasant gatherings of the great festal day. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Llewellyn, daughter Shirley and son, Billie, Mrs. Ida De Vinney, Mrs. Donald De Vinner and son, Sugene, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Heagland and Mr. Frank McDonald formed the congenial company. SACRED CONCERT GIVEN IN ZION CHURCH SUNDAY THE concert to be given Sunday evening by the choir of the Zion Lutheran church promises to be a rare treat for lovers of sacred music.
