MANN EXHIBITS
NEW DODGE CARS
Patrons and friends of Charley Mann, Dodge distributor, are finding out that the floor and background of a showroom have as much to do with "showing off" a handsome car as a good road has in demonstrating the service it can give.
Charley has obtained several Dodge cars since the improvements were completed, and still has a sedan and touring car of the latest type on his front floor. The cars are better looking than any of their predecessors and the re-painted quarters bring out their lines and color and features as never before.
The demand for Dodge and other accessories has increased at Mann's shop since he enlarged his stock and was able to display them to better advantage.
JORDAN, OTHER
PLAN BIG FACTORY
President William Jordan of the Jordan Motor Car Company was scheduled to complete this week the closing of options on a 2600-acre tract at Ridgway, W. Va., 10 miles north of Winchester for a $10,000-000 auto factory. Jordan represents a group of Detroit capitalists, including H. S. Firestone, W. M. Marshall, engineer for a Pittsburgh concern, announced he was ready to begin the first unit of the structure.
Hell, for some people, will be an eternity spent in the mad effort to catch the attention of social superiors.

WARNING AGAINST
CHEAP BATTERIES
There recently appeared in the Chicago Daily News, an article by Mr. Erwin Greer, president of the Utrecht College of Automotive Engineering, under the title of "Take Care of Your Battery," which Mr. A. Bovillard of the local Willard Service Station says contains real battery information. The Article follows:
If you want to obtain low cost of battery service on your car you must do three things: You must have a standard battery, you must see that it is serviced properly, and you must give it a certain amount of attention yourself.
If you consider the cost of a battery and the work it has to do you will readily realize that it needs exactly the care that you give the engine.
There are now on the market more than 100 different makes of storage batteries. Out of this number a good percentage are virtually worthless when compared with topnotch batteries made by responsible companies. The worthless ones are sometimes called "back-alley" batteries, because they are made in barns, garages and shops that have no recognition. It does not take any particular skill or experience to make such batteries. The plates are purchased from one source, boxes, parts and electrolyte from others, and so the parts are put together and the resultant called a storage battery.
If the parts were properly made and correlated a good battery could be produced, but such a battery would then have to sell at such a stiff price as compared with the reputable makers that the alley builders could not compete. So the motorist is asked to buy these put-together batteries at a low price, sometimes at a high price. It does not matter much about the price, for the motorist "gets stuck" either way.
If you need a battery, buy one made by a reputable firm. That does not necessarily mean a large manufacturer who advertises its wares all over the country, because there are many smaller battery makers who
JAMES STILL SWEARS BY AJAX NON SKIDS
Get some non-skid Ajax tires against wet weather and get em white prices are low. This is the advice that James the Vulcanizer is giving to his patrons.
Vacuum cup in the middle of the tread, large enough to prevent a sidewise movement, and square cut blocks make the Ajax one of the most dependable tires on the market, says James. James has put in a spring dating order for a supply of all sizes and types of the Ajax.
PARTNER'S INTEREST BOUGHT BY EDDY
H. E. Eddy of the Anaheim Paint and Top Shop has taken over the interest of his partner, C. W. Ahlstrom. The latter will remain in charge of the top department. Before coming to Anaheim Ahlstrom was for five years connected with the Packard Motor Car Company. The place hereafter will be known as Eddy's Auto-Pallet and Top Shop.
With an experience which enables the firm to handle any kind of a job in its line, including new fope; interior and exterior decoration and re-fitting, a continuation of good business is anticipated by Eddy.
'Save Your Tire While Saving's Good.' Walter
Reminding the public that he has the largest vulcanizing shop in the city, S. R. Walter of the Anglohem Vulcanizing Works announces a guarantee of all work he turns out. Walter services not only the tires he sells particularly Kelly-Springfields, which he has exclusively, but any tire sold. He is prepared to rescue a good fire which needs a new section or re-tread it as the case may demand.
Get your tires into shape before wet weather, warns Walter, and don't let a small piece of damage become a big one by neglect. Once water or dirt gets into a cut, the fabric or cord deteriorates rapidly.
CUT-OPEN CADILLAC AND MOVIES EXHIBIT
A special cut-open Cadillac chassis direct from the Los Angeles Automobile Show, a lecture on the mechanical construction of the Cadillac lace, and five reels of interesting moving pictures will be the attractive entertainment for the motoring public that will be staged in the showroom of the Cadillac Garage company Santa Ana, Friday and Saturday, December 1-2, announces M. B. Lace branch manager here.
This cut-open chassis, which is exact duplicate of the chassis to exhibited by the Cadillac Motor Company at the Chicago, and New York Shows, was generally voted the Los Angeles show to be the most perfect product of the kind ever shown in the west.
James-E. Bayliss will accompany the chassis and deliver talks on the mechanical construction during the afternoon and evening.
This is the standard Cadillac chassis, with all the metal parts highly polished and nickeled, and away in much a manner that its erosion can be easily studied. Chassis is raised on supports and wired throughout for special interior lighting.
Sedanette New Chevrolet Mod
A novel member of the new 1954 Superior Chevrolet line is the sedanette, which has achieved instant success. It takes the place of the former passenger coupe, which, while very popular lacked both the styling and roominess of the sedanette, so O. E. Dennis, branch manager of Frank P. Tagunti Co.
As its name implies, the new model is similar to the sedan, but has shorter body to make room for a 35-inch auto trunk at the rear trunk instead as regular equipment. The two individual seats in front which tip forward easy access to the rear seat through the extra wide doors.
This model appends especially women for social and sport uses.
be produced, but such a battery would then have to sell at such a stiff price as compared with the reputable makers that the alley builders could not compete. So the motorist is asked to buy these put-to-gather batteries at a low price, sometimes at a high price. It does not matter much about the price, for the motorist "gets stuck" either way.
If you need a battery, buy one made by a reputable firm. That does not necessarily mean a large manufacturer who advertise his ware all over the country, because they are many smaller battery makers who haven't the distribution nor the advertising volume. The battery business is one that must be studied in order to produce a good unit at low cost. This study calls for constant experimental work in every branch of manufacture, and this is something the "back alley" builders do not care to do.
Once you possess a good battery the next thing to do is give it the care it deserves. All you have to do is to add distilled water once each week in summer and once every two weeks in winter or at such intervals as found necessary.

Daniels under the firm name of Daniels & Williams at 211 North Los Angeles-st., where Daniels has been doing business. The shop is 28 feet by 60 feet deep and well equipped for the business. Daniels is an experienced practical man and Williams a good office man.
MORE HUPS SOUGHT TO FULFILL ORDERS
W. M. Drake, proprietor of the Golden State Motor Company, was in Los Angeles yesterday after some Hup cars particularly closed models. Drake has several orders for the Hup, the phenomenal jump of which to ninth place among cars sold by American firms has been the talk of motordom.
